I loved that comic as a kid. I still do, in fact. I have a bunch of comics of Calvin's antics with the snowmen saved to an old computer.

XD It wasn't until my freshman year of high school when I learned that they were named after Enlightenment philosophers. It works-- Calvin is a smart kid with some different views on life that aren't always seen by the others, namely his parents.

I don't know about you guys, but I feel like vacationing at good ol' itchy island; home of the nuclear mosquitos. I'll bring my official G.R.O.S.S. chapeau. :D

The thing that stands out about Calvin & Hobbes is there's nothing else like it in the comics. Watterson totally immersed you in the imagination of a 6 year old. Everything from making snow goons to playing in a cardboard box to fantasizing about blowing up your school with a fighter jet. His strips are so relatable like that.

The guy was quite the artist. Who else could write an account of a Tyrannosarus Rex wrecking havoc on a city in the form of a poem. And years before that Jurassic Park sequal.

Now if you'll excuse me, I think my transmografier just arrived.

^ Wise guy!

I found the box set...relatively cheap! The first one I really laughed at was near the end, where Calvin takes his plate of manicotti and makes it like his intestines burst out, freaking out Susie. Masterpiece!!

C&H was a great strip. Still one of my favorites today too. I've got quite a few of the volumes stowed away somewhere, but I really have no idea where. I remember getting in trouble in school because I kept reading Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat when I first got it instead of doing my work.

I see you have exceptional reading comprehension. Now, read the last sentence in the quote again.

And speaking of jokes, here's a little something I found that this thread should not be without:
