You can't be grateful for life and dismayed by how messed up the world is at the same time. There are reasons to hate life, but there are also reasons to love life.
The news media has trained us to look at all the shittiness of the world on a daily basis. That's all it is, one sh*tty event after another. And we call it "being informed."
I contend that if we want to lead happier lives, we need to turn our focus on what's NOT f*cked up about the world and get used to noticing what's right by continuously looking for it.

Just do what you want. If other people get mad enough that it's not easy to do, do something else that they're OK with.
