Should Sony have gone ahead and released The Interview despite hacker threats?

Yes. But it would have lost money, because the major theater chains would not show the movie.

So it works out like this:

The theater chains gave in to the hackers.
Sony gave in to the theater chains.

I voted "no."

I heard on the news that Present Obama wished that Sony would have consulted with him first. In history, anyone in the public could make an appointment with the President. I remember reading that ordinary people could talk to Abraham Lincoln when he was President.

Today, anyone can make appointments to meet with their city council persons, their county supervisors, and even the mayor.

However, can one go to see their State's Governor in 2014? Or the President of The United States of America? I don't think so. So how could Sony make an appointment to see Pres. Obama? In this case, Sony should have talked with federal officials such as the FBI, and the feds could have set up an appointment with Obama. This is a matter of national security.

Well, the vote was unanimous, and Sony released it after all, mostly online.
