Volume inconsitancy on S7 DVD?

Postby embersxfade » Wed Mar 22, 2006 9:28 pm

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that the audio track during the theme/intro on the episodes on the season 7 dvds was a lower volume than the audio in the rest of the episode as well as in a few points during some episodes, or if it was just me or simply my set. Thanks a ton.

I haven't picked up a copy yet but I have heard of a few people complaining about bloopers not that one in particular though

Correct!

Yeah, the volume on the DVD's seems to be all over the place. There are points at which the underscoring blasts over characters talking. Sometimes the audio goes in and out during scenes. It isn't extreme, but it makes me wonder about the care taken in producing these box sets.

Well...it's good to know it's not just me...but at the same time kinda lame that they couldn't get it right this time, but we could do a better job the last six times. Oh well.

Noticed the same thing. For $35 you think they could get it right. It's not like they had a month to get it together. Lame.

I'm glad someone else mentioned that. Oddly enough, if you flip to the mini-commentary track and continue listening to the episode after Matt and Trey decide they've said enough, the audio sounds better than it does on the main voice track.

Also, anyone notice that a few establishing shots, particularly those of South Park Elementary, at least on Disc 1, seem darker than they should be? Between dimly lit scenes, an audio that sucks dialogue into a black hole, and what appears to be a lazy oversight with the opening titles later in the season, this definitely seems to me to be one of the lowest quality DVD box sets since Season 2.

Even though they had all that time, maybe someone procrastinated and then suddenly rushed to get Season 7 out in time to advertise in time for Season 10 to start on TV.

I just picked up season 7 the other day and I watched first episode, and the sound was horrible, the audio would drop in and out every 5 minutes. I hope all the other episodes aren't like this...

gee I thought it was just me but it's really evident in "Cancelled" as the character audio just seems to drop out over the effects audio--like when Chef's car gets lifted to the spaceship. It doesnt happen too often after that tho. :?

this is a shame because season 7 is THE pinnacle of SP, perhaps their funniest and most consistent season EVER. IMO of course.

Just wanted to add, if I select play all I get no audio at all. If I watch each episode seperately, I do get the choppy audio.

Ya know if enough people actually take the time to write to Paramount and let them know that we're displeased with these DVDs, maybe they'll offer fixed replacements with proof of purchase. Not being able to hear the DVDs clearly constitutes a big enough flaw that I think they'd take steps to fix the situation.

But do you think in a few months they will send out fixed ones to stores?

Not if they're not made aware of it by consumers. They need to know we find it to be enough of a problem that its something they should fix.

Maybe if we all write letters to Paramount and tell them the audio sucks, they'll do a recall on the DVD's...
