I have to say, I am disappointed in you. I could have sworn that you told me your name was Handsome Bob.

Back on topic: Raising the Bar was a great episode, if I remember correctly. The James Cameron cut-aways were not irrelevant as most people seem to think. It was a comment that shows like Honey Boo Boo are lowering the bar, or lowering the standards, of entertainment in America. It was also a gag on the fact that James Cameron wanted to film Avatar 7 miles underwater and had his own personal submarine designed for him.

A decent, sharp satirical episode. And who wouldn't laugh at James Cameron referring to James Cameron in third person, because James Cameron likes to talk that way because it pleases James Cameron?

Probably wouldn't say it deserves an Emmy, though. I mean, other Emmy-winning SP episodes were clearly better: Margaritaville, Make Love Not Warcraft, Imaginationland.

Just went back and watched then (thanks ALLSP.COM).

Brilliant episode! Well deserving of the Emmy after a second viewing.

I wonder if the show itself (as a whole) will win an Emmy (can that actually happen? I dunno how the Emmys work that way) anyhow, i wonder if future episodes will win more Emmys

I'm surprised it even won an Emmy.

If there's a lifetime achievement award, MnT would receive it for the show, once it has finished its run.

My favorite bit in the episode had to be Kyle lamenting on the state of entertainment.

"How did shamelessness get to this? Did it start with fat people on scooters or did the bar get lowered way before that? And then I started thinking that maybe it was us. I don't know, but maybe somehow we lowered the bar... a long time ago and now we're just sitting in the stink of it all. "

It really says a lot when the guys who made their name with talking poop as a running gag is left calling out how far the bar has dropped.

^^
Amen to that!

I would care more about South Park's Emmy accolades if they gave animated shows the respect they earned decades ago and present the goddamn award along with all the other shows rather than with all the 'technical' awards where no one gets to see them. It should've been done 25 fucking years ago for The Simpsons. Now it's 2013 and animated shows have been dominating for so long, they are part of the culture. The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, Archer, The Boondocks, Futurama... Still, no respect. Fuck the Emmies.
