Anyone bummed out by Season 17 ?

Anyone bummed out by Season 17 ?

Well after 3 mediocre episodes i just lost all hype for Season 17 i mean the first episode was so unfunny and lame and that was followed by an even mediocre episode.

And recently WW zimmerman is even more disappointing even though the ideas are still interesting the episode is just unfunny

EDIT: Anyway i just finished watching Goth kids and it was "Okay" and it was definitely better than last 3 episodes but considering that there are only 10 episodes in total i'm kinda dissapointed to see that SP is just not as insanely funny it used to be.

Nope; I think this is a refreshing Season so far compared to many seasons of the last few years. We see the kids in Garrison's class; this last episode, 1703, was totally an episode about the kids - no Randy stealing the limelight in the episode. 1703 was one of the best episodes in a long time. Kudos to M&T; South Park is back to it's roots of the earliest of Seasons :)

Nah, the first three episodes of Season 16 were not exactly the holy kind of trinity either. The season, however, turned out to be relatively decent, imo. Besides, unlike many others, I never bought into the whole "quality over quantity" and "the longer the break, the better" baloney. Hence, no big disappointment for me. That being said, wathcing South Park is a custom that I hold quite dear. Their new production schedule as well as the not so new "hit and miss" production method sure suck the barrel of Oprah's vaginal gun. Does that mean I want them to call it quits? Pfft, hell no.

Nope, it's been good so far. I would've preferred a bigger gap between Cartman episodes, though.

Not one bit. Only bummer is it will only be 10 episodes.

South Park targets specific audiences, if you start to not like South Park after watching the show, it usually means they stopped targeting the demographic you're in

Rough translation: Basically they stopped advertising their media to you because they're running out of interest from people that are like you.

There's always watching older episodes on the internet or being a South Park Collector (once certain things happen, ie if SP discontinues to be aired) those South Park items can be valuable over time!

I enjoyed the first two episodes this run, especially "Informative Murder Porn". I laughed from start to finish with that one. Wasn't feeling "World War Zimmerman" though, despite it's little surprises toward the end.

Honestly, whether these episodes are good or bad, I'm gonna stay positive and enjoy the run as much as I can before the year-long hiatus starts up again.

Not really. WWZims wasn't the greatest, but I thoroughly enjoyed Informative Murder Porn. Compare that one to some of the early episodes where Sheila Brovfloski is getting all worked up about some bullshit on TV, wanting to protect her children. And here we have Kyle doing the exact same thing trying to protect his parents from some bullshit on TV. It was brilliant. It's the plot from the goddamn movie turned on its head!

There are a lot of episodes to go and I can't possibly be bummed out this early, especially with one really good one already in the bank.

The show's roots are not centered around unfunny repetitive jokes, recirculating plots, and a lack of character diversity and interaction.

You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how much it deviates from popular consensus, but to equate a disaster like 1703, which has been given the distinction of being a terrible episode nearly unanimously, with any episode from the show's first seasons is among the stupidest things I've ever seen come from your keyboard, and I don't have a shortage of them, either. At least profess your ignorance about something you supposedly love so much before making an asinine statement.

You are the ultimate insult to people who have watched the show from the start.

Whether or not you are bummed equates directly to the level of excitement you felt beforehand. The first two episodes were okay- not okay in earlier season comparisons, where merely okay episodes would be considered great now- and I didn't regret watching them. The third was a train wreck, but I'm sure the fourth will contain the usual first act competency I've come to expect.

I expected mediocre, I have seen mediocre by and large so I'm nor bummed.

Whilst I completely agree with you on WWZ being a terrible episode, it's far from unanimous. The fringe of the fandom (casual male fans and female fans) LOVED it by a landslide, and I even heard a few criticizing SPS for not enjoying it. (I did lecture them about it, don't worry.)

That said, I found WWZ really underwhelming, but the first two episodes were fine and brilliant respectively I'm not going down in the dumps just yet.

I won't judge the season until the end. Although if by episode 8 the majority is Cartman/Butters/Randy, and I won't have one good Stan episode, then ya, season 17 will blow. Having four less episodes blows already, that's four chances of episodes that could be really good. I hate knowing the favors aren't great so far for me. :/
I love: Stan, Butters, Cartman, Sharon.

I ship: Stan/Cartman <3

Stan: MMOOMM!!
Sharon: What is it honey? (gasp!) My baby's killed again!
Haa, I love that line.

I think its way too soon for us to starting rating the new season. Let's give it some more time.

If this season were an anime, then I would be reading a three-episode test thread right now - if you didn't like the first three episodes, you would probably skip the rest of the season. But as South Park has been around for 16 years, you'll probably watch the rest of this season just so you don't miss out.
