Forgot to bump this thread yesterday to mention this major football news:
Brett Favre has retired.
This entire state stopped for a while yesterday as links were emailed around offices and people switched on ESPN.

Here in Milwaukee, two local TV stations preempted all of their regular daytime programming in order to provide wall-to-wall Brett Favre coverage.

It was crazy. He's bigger than Jesus, apparently.

He's been playing for the Pack since I was in 3rd grade. So it's hard to imagine a Packers game without for me. Eh, we had a good run with him; thanks a lot, Brett!

Congrats, Brett. Even before this year ended he was considered one of the best ever, and I agree.

Does anyone else find it odd that the same night that that came down, there was a Verizon or T-Mobile ad "It's time to say Hello", that featured Brett saying "It's time for me to say, Hello." at his press conference?

Football coaches come from the strangest backgrounds.... I just read that the exiled president of Thiland currently spends his free time (i.e. any minute he can spare from his Cue plans) mannaging Manchester United Football club.

Wait... are we talking about football or "foot to the oposition's balls?"

We're talking American Football here. Although, that is an interesting sports point.

Another bump for this thread to mention today's Brett Favre trade. I just watched part of a press conference with him in a Jets hat. It's so wrong.

You should've just stayed retire, Brett. Now your going to drag out a few mediocre seasons with some other team. What a bunch of crap.

This is most definitely his last year. Once he doesn't have the Green bay cushion anymore, bad performances will be seen as they should be.

Anyway, the Seahawks should do well this year. An improved running game and some good wide receivers will go with a great quarterback and a tight end who can actually catch the ball. If the 'Hawks can just not have any more injuries, we shall be golden. Even then, I'm predicting at least 11-5.

^ As a Seattle resident, I feel I should thank you, Cap'n!

Saw some of that game against the Vikings, and that was impressive. Question is: Who do you think would make a better running back? Julius Jones? Owen Schmitt?

Now, there's someone who may become the butt of a few jokes. Because the Hawks have two rookies with the same last name--not sure if they're related--the RB will have this on his jersey:

O. SCHMITT

For when you don't feel like swearing...

I know. He's not gonna be able to do much in the AFC East. We all know New England's taking that spot again.

Oh, and call me crazy, but my instincts tell me that Jacksonville just might take the AFC South.

Try again...we all know how this one will work out,

2nd to the Colts, Jags take Wild Card.

*Happens every year*

PS: Jets will finish 2nd to pats this year but will finish at 8-8.

Retirement may have been the sure-fire way for Brett Favre to avoid the Madden Curse. However, now we'll get to see if being traded helps someone avoid the Madden Curse or not. Jets will be 3rd place at best in AFC East.

AFC South is gonna be tight. Either Colts or Jags for first. Titans and Texans will be improved and competitive.

I think I might be the only American that saw this topic and thought 'soccer' anyway I hope Brett has a career ending injury 1st game of the season. That is the only way to get him to retire and for the media to shut up about him.

^^

At his age, it wouldn't take much.

Seeing Favre in a non-Packers uniform is so wrong.
