*405* Pip

Postby nall » Wed Mar 19, 2008 9:50 am

This is the story of Pip's origin.
Pip gets a job at the Havesham Estate where he meets Estella. She only spurns his optimism with insults. When Pip is offered the opportunity to become a gentleman he goes to London only to discover that Miss Havesham plans to break his heart. Her plan is to use Pip's tears to power her Genesis device and will allow her to gain revenge on all men.

25 baby bunnies murdered, that definitely confirms it was truly written by Charles Dickens...

Maybe he's not dead, didn't Damien blow him into pieces in one episode? That gives me hope....

All the poor bunnies.

I enjoyed this episode, but for different reasons than I enjoy South Park. I would like to see more episodes like this, but not at the expense of regular episodes. Maybe some type of spin-off mini series?

Pip will be back, I'm sure. Kenny had worse deaths; decapation and rats eating him. Pip was only squashed. So what? Cartman was beat up by Wendy. The next week Cartman was back to normal.

Mark my words: the Pip of episode 405 and now 1406 "201" will return again :D

Under normal conditions, Pip would return. He's survived being lit on fire twice ("Cartman Gets An Anal Probe" and "Damien"), among other atrocities.

But you also have to remember Pip hasn't spoken since "Professor Chaos" in 2002, and disappeared from the classroom mid-way through "D-Yikes" in 2007. His appearance in "201" was just a callback and he was killed quickly. Matt and Trey only put in Pip to get revenge on their hatred for 'Great Expectations' and this was the coup de grais. I'd been asking for Pip to return and he did, even if he died.

Pip's role in the series as the nerdy kid everyone hates was lost in 1999 during "Two Guys Naked in a Hot Tub". During the episode's commentary, Matt and Trey admitted that Butters replaced him - they found Butters a funner character. Thus, Pip has almost no speaking roles after "Pip" in 2000, until "Professor Chaos". And a little-known fact is Pip was originally to have been killed off in "Damien", but was kept for the sake of background space - he's been on borrowed time since 1997.

Pip's one of my all-time favorite characters, but he's gone for good.

I don't see why M&T hate this episode so much. I thought it was so funny that I actually choked when Pip's elder sister was bitching at Joe (the blacksmith). Also:

Pip: Joe, do you know anything about girls?
Joe: [resumes hammering] Sure! They're those things with vaginas in them!

Malcolm McDowel was hilarious as well.

In the commentary they did for it, they like the episode, and don't know why the fans hate it.

Being a parody of Great Expectations I suspect it bored or alienated quite a few people
