Is the South Park movie REALLY "Bigger Longer and Uncut"?

Postby Mario Cartman » Sat Jun 25, 2011 3:35 pm

I've been reading up on the SP:BLU, and can't determine if this version is really the original, director's cut. I was reading on wikipedia that it was originally rated NC-17, and had to be submitted 6 times before it was cut down to an R. Wikipedia says (in the release section) that on the sixth time, it was originally given an NC-17, but with some debate "The next day the film was changed to an R rating without reason, with the original film intact."

Is that supposed to mean that everything submitted in the sixth submission was kept (even though originally NC-17), or that everything from the first submission was kept (which would be more unlikely)?

It also mentions that there was a 10-year anniversary edition released, but just sounds like it was digitally enhanced and that no content cut content was put back in.

So, it would seem as though, in the title, "Bigger, Longer, and Uncut", that nothing was cut out of it and that IS the original. I've heard rumors that on the song Uncle "F***a", it used to be "Mother F***a", but had to change it to get it rated R. However, it seems as though there is a lot of cut out footage that hasn't been released anywhere. I've even heard rumors that over 30 minutes of the movie had to be cut out for an R rating.

I don't know about you, but I'm upset that the original movie hasn't been released. Heck, I didn't even think the movie was as explicit as some of the episodes. Nowadays, a movie can easily over ride the NC-17 with an Unrated rating (though not in theaters).

Please fill me in. Thanks.

Well see, it was originally supposed to be called "All Hell Breaks Loose" but there were objections to that title, so they used the title of a porn movie and it went through. That kind of thing happened a lot on the movie, and indeed on the show.
To believe in something just because you're afraid of the consequences if you don't believe in something is no reason to believe in something.

I've never heard of a special edition of BLU existing, but if it does, I want it! I know BASEketball supposedly has 30 minutes of extra footage that has never been released, and that the VHS version of that movie has outtakes that for some reason didn't make the DVD version of the film. That might be what you're thinking of for that part. Also the 8th draft of the BLU script has been floating around online for a few years now.
