Re: Anyone else ever visited a series location?

I've been around a number of those places or at least passed by them, but like Neuroheart, living in Colorado does make it pretty inevitable.

Re: PAUL RYAN? Does Romney have secret dirt on Obama?

You're correct with Rand being the opposite of Marx with some similar end goals. Again, Ayn Rand is quite appealing to young intellectuals for a reason. And then most grow out of it because they realize it hinges on an ideal that is incompatible with reality. I've been saying for roughly a decade no...

Re: Is Cartman Gay?

Yes and Garrison is probably the second most bigoted character on the show- he's mocked women, gays, blacks, Jews, etc. and has the most screwed up and depraved views of relationships on the show.

Hence the comparison.

Maybe Trey's just getting older, haha. It happens. Keep in mind they are in their 40s now and the body doesn't stop changing. Listen to any of the bands from the 60s, 70s or 80s who still tour. Elton John cannot hit the high notes from early in his career. Paul McCartney as well as the Rolling Ston...

Re: PAUL RYAN? Does Romney have secret dirt on Obama?

The thing is that I can at least appreciate Libertarianism from an intellectual perspective. It's a lofty ideal that people should be rewarded according to heir abilities and contributions. It appeals to intelligent people for that reason. Most just realize over time that as this hinges on people be...

Re: PAUL RYAN? Does Romney have secret dirt on Obama?

Well, no, of course the budget won't address the budget because you cannot possibly cut enough social programs to balance tax cuts and increase the military budget as is proposed. My having lived in his district is just a bonus in that I've heard this guy speak in person and know how he considers mo...

Re: PAUL RYAN? Does Romney have secret dirt on Obama?

I am shocked that they actually went with the swarmy Ayn Rand worshiper from Wisconsin, a state that continues to lose jobs month after month according to BLS data. I used to live in his district and the man is a jerk who really lacks empathy with the plight of normal people. The man is not pleasant...

Re: Kenny McCormick's last name.

They didn't think fans would care how it's spelled. This is the same reason Broflovski was spelled four or five different ways in the first three seasons. Not to mention it's fun to mutilate names out of Eastern Europe, particularly the Slavic language family. The fewer vowels in a name the more po...

Re: America, we need to talk about your guns.

Once I heard about the Sikh shooting I had an inkling it would be some sort of ignorant racial thing. You will never see more confederate flag decals north of the Mason-Dixon line outside of Wisconsin. Get outside of Madison or Milwaukee and you will find a lot of communities with a token minority f...

Re: Didn't sound like Stan!!! - A History Channel Thanksgivi

There are often points where one or more characters sound a touch off. When you're making most episodes on a week by week basis there are only so many takes you can fit in and if someone has a cold or isn't 100 percent (sleep deprivation, being in a crappy mood etc.) it is easy to be slightly off. M...

Re: Kyle's Hebrew name

Not to mention that Ike is usually a short form of Isaac, which is also a name usually associated with Jews. So his name is pretty notoriously Jewish. But there hasn't even been mention of Kyle's middle name, so no way to speculate if his parents decided to be stereotypical with their elder son as w...

Re: Subjects of importance that Trey&Matt have not touched

As screwed up as the Federal Reserve can be in some cases (yet still blown out of proportion by the tin foil hat wearing types), it doesn't really lend itself to funny. Politicians saying stupid stuff on television on a regular basis makes for good comedy. Ridiculous laws are worth a good laugh. Pan...

Re: Would you let YOUR children watch South Park?

We make kids ignorant by hiding information from them. This depends on the kid in question, but I'm sure most could handle a lot more than parents give them credit for. The idea someone is suddenly ready to learn something because they've hit a certain age, and/or isn't ready because they're below ...

Re: Would you let YOUR children watch South Park?

I see what you mean about not wanting to explain things but isn't that also considered lazy parenting? Just saying?! Or you taking one part entirely out of context. Kids find stuff and sheltering them is no good, but there is such a thing as not deliberately exposing them to things that they are to...

Re: Would you let YOUR children watch South Park?

I agree with you, Bob on the morals being often fairly good (although sometimes the bad morals are trumped up and placed in a favorable light to point out hypocrisy). Hell, when I have kids, they are likely to learn their four letter words before they can get into crude humor as I am prone to F-bomb...
