Re: Would you let YOUR children watch South Park?

I wonder what eps Trey won't let his 11-year-old stepson (now adopted?) watch. Or more specifically which ones HE thinks he is okay versus which ones the MOTHER approves. I'll say as a woman that there is usually a gap in perception of appropriateness. We get together and often shake our heads at w...

Re: Would you let YOUR children watch South Park?

Absolutely not for young kids. As far as actual age of appropriateness goes, there's quite a bit of variance in terms of the content. Some of the episodes, particularly the early ones are rated almost entirely on language. Kids pick up on that in school and given my tendency to use four letter words...

Re: Is Cartman Gay?

God I hope so... especially if Kyle is too... Only problem with that fantasy is that Kyle has expressed interest in girls and only girls. "Cartman Finds Love" is basically Cartman's racism fueling every attempt to keep Kyle from potentially dating Nichole. Until he found out why the girls...

Re: *1604: Jewpacabra* Post-Air Discussion

Wait, it's taken until season 16 for people to realize that the mythology of major religions is messed with heavily in the show? Jewpacabra was the latest in a long line of parodying major religions. Let it be said that when they decide they want to actually get the info right, they do get it right....

Re: Wanna Religious Debate?

Oh, I never pretend that the insanity is limited to the United States. I actually focus a lot on international government and comparative politics so I know some of the odd things that happen elsewhere. I can admit that I am quite proud of Congress for not going the South Korean route of settling a ...

Re: Wanna Religious Debate?

It's different seeing it on the internet versus real life and to see it fluctuate in time to the reports on TV. On the internet I can expect a degree of hyperbole that these people are to some extent exaggerating for attention. These people are supposed to be charactures that don't really exist beyo...

Re: Wanna Religious Debate?

If we want to discuss the media, conspiracy theories and ridiculous people, I can't help but bring up my father in law. He's one of those crotchety old skilled labor farts who retired and has since resigned to mimicking a sloth and being fed hours upon hours of Fox News. This can be pretty amusing a...

Re: South Park Baby

There's always the middle name option. That way when the kid gets out of line you can use full name rights in front of his friends. "Uh, why'd she call you derp?" Kid facepalms "middle name." "Wow you're serious?" "Damn it, mom!" He or she would probably avoid...

Re:

i dont like the real actors..ahhh and kenny is blond Yeah, the point was that reenactments on TV shows are usually terribly acted and have 'actors' that look nothing like the actual people. It's been said 20 times or so now. The actors are being deliberately awful in their delivery and don't look l...

Re: They should really do something with Kenny

You know, you left me speechless with your pure stupidity. You mention wanting Kenny to be more prominent and then later said they ought to off Kyle. You are the one who started the discussion and received responses. That's how a forum works. You may want to look up the definition for a rant it does...

Re: They should really do something with Kenny

You asked why Kenny isn't used more and I responded with an explanation based on writing structure and storytelling methods. He's a character that is a great prop or running gag but hard to develop stories around for any length of time. That's why he was killed off for good once already. You don't h...

Re: They should really do something with Kenny

What they need to do is kill Kyle and I'll be fine . How does that make Kenny a more dynamic character? Kyle's not often the main character in the plot, but his stick in the mud aspects are kind of important in terms of balancing out both Cartman and Stan. first rule of storytelling: conflict is ev...

Re: I Should Never Have Watched This Episode

They've thought about it already, more than once, and the answer is the same: NO. Trey will write the scripts. He does have a team of consultants off which he can fine-tune the scripts, but they don't write any part of them for him. And I do believe I've said before that no one should submit any sp...

Re: *1606: I Should Have Never Gone Ziplining* Post-Air Disc

Right, but in your late 20s you're still outside of the college humor audience and probably old enough to get most of the references. I mean, there's no definitive exact age, but roughly around the split between Gen X and Y. If you're old enough to remember a bit of the 80s and all the 90s, there's ...

Re: *1606: I Should Have Never Gone Ziplining* Post-Air Disc

This is the worst episode ever. It's not even remotely funny. It was a massive waste of time. Why waste our time because you assh*les are too stupid to know that ziplining is gay. If you wanted to go ziplining and have fun you should have done some research first idiots. My dad liked this episode. ...
