Sniffffffff... Ahhhhhhh....

I'm sure the episode didn't meet the high standards of many who post here, but I was too busy scaring the cat with my barking laughter at the fart jokes to catch half of it...

Which, I guess, is my standard: If I'm laughing so hard I fear complaints from the neighbors, I'm satisfied.

When Mods Attack!

Alas, I have to second Big Will's conclusions. Once we've settled the did-he-or-didn't-he aspect of Isaac's departure, we're left with the reasons why -- which do leave Chef with egg on his face.

Hmmm... Maybe that's why the lion ripped it off...

As someone who's read Prehensile's previous posts, and expressed deep skepticism about the given reasons for Hayes quitting elsewhere on the board, I'm willing to accept this as valid until I hear strong evidence to the contrary. Either that, or Scientology has suddenly become brilliant with their d...

You actually believed that?

Had I been watching at the time, I probably would have believed that Cartman's father's identity was going to be revealed "in four weeks"...

Re: Stardust Memories

I was thinking the reason some people do not like the newer episodes is because they are too young to understand the humor. Something like that, most likely. Big Will, for example, has a link to South Park's "Jump the Shark" page: http://www.jumptheshark.com/s/southpark.htm Second item, from who kn...

Me, I'll know the show's in trouble when they do an episode with Stan and Kyle at each other's throats because Terrance and Phillip are (are not!) starting to suck...

I agree: South Park is not as funny as it used to be.

It's funnier.

Hey, I tried to be diplomatic...

(By the way, aren't we still owed a Lemmiwinks sequel?)

Stardust Memories

Well, now I understand which side of The Great South Park Divide I stand on... My fault for being a latecomer to the board. Clearly, what I enjoy about the show -- the sharp satirical wit -- is what's turning a lot of people off. I'm all for the current-events focus, even when I think the targets ar...

Don't want to polarize the conversation, but yes, I was acknowledging that half the folks here strongly disagree with me about the ever-increasing quality of the series. I think we can do that without tossing feces. What interests me is that it is a polarizing subject: Better or Worse? Most shows (o...

Unintended Consequences

Before we impale this thread on a stick, I want to mention how stupid the Scientologists have been over the whole affair. If only they had let the original episode slide -- the way Isaac Hayes did, when he was still speaking for himself -- it would have been filed away and forgotten. Half the folks ...

Alas, I'm more of an essayist by nature -- too rational for fiction. Unless you prefer stories full of numbered lists. What I would enjoy is sitting in on a South Park story session, where the ideas get hashed out. My guess is that inspiration precedes explanation -- you get the idea, and then you f...

Tending Butters' Garden

Forgive the arcane reference, but there's a bit of Candide in Butters: sweet and optimistic, despite the abuse heaped on him. Butters lives in the best of all possible worlds.

Just keep him away from the tap shoes.

Little Murders

As far as I'm concerned, they should have whacked Kim instead of Edgar. Whoops, wrong show... I may disagree, but I can't fault folks for taking the literal portrayal of Chef's death to heart. All I can say is that without that scene, you don't get the power of what follows. Yes, another list: 1. Yo...

Best ever? Sure!

Guess I've been lurking long enough... 1. For me, and probably for all the wrong reasons, it's the best SP episode I've seen yet. (I understand if it's too self-referential for some, but after four viewings I'm still obsessed with it.) It's funny enough without the backstory, but knowing the subtext...
