this is going to win me some angry replys
Bush isn't as dumb as he seems on TV, I got to meet him and his dad for a school thing like 8 years ago (so before he was in office). He has like a 120 IQ its just like what he thinks and what he says doesn't always match. His just a horrible speaker, his dad was way dumber just a lot better speaker. Plus he really doesn't do anything in office Dick does everything and Bush just sits there playing with Action figures till it is time to go on TV.
The dumbest is people who say we went to Iraq for oil and oil alone. If you read any info on the first Iraq war you would know they burnt the oil fields the sec we came in, which they did again any person would have known it would be a waste of time to go for just oil. I mean oil may have played a small part but not as large as every protester makes it seem. No what the Dumbest people are the protesting hippies who sit around bitching about the gov then go sit on the Mall (the grass one in DC not a mall) and think thats going to make the gov change their mind. STOP BITCHING AND GO LEARN ABOUT THE GOV SO YOU CAN f*cking CHANGE SOMETHING AND STOP JUST BLOCKING TRAFFIC AND FILLING UP THE METRO MAKING ME HAVE TO STAND WITH MY f*cking FACE IN SOMEONES ARM PIT.

It's interesting though, that the first actions of the US military in the opening hours of Operation Iraqi Freedom seem to indicate oil played a central role in the invasion. I saw this program on the History Channel about some of the cool Special Ops missions that were on going before Bush even made his little "ultimatum". Most of the missions they discussed had something to do with securing the country's oil infrastructure.
In the run up to this conflict, you'd expected these special ops missions to be about locating and neutralized suspected bio/chem/nuke weapons facilities. At least that's what I'd expect given the administration's pretense for invasion. But amazingly enough, they sent the troops right for several key petroleum related facilities.
I mean, I can appreciate the need to prevent Iraqis from sabatoging this stuff and all, but knowing what we know now, it looks rather suspicious.

First off knowing what we know is that there were no weapons, and the military knew this so why would they send people to go for something they knew wasn't there. Secondly under the freedom of information act you can look at anything the military can unless its a black budget project funded one (which the spec ops aren't normally they get money the same as the other military) you just can get info like names and that stuff that could lead to someones death. Now I have done this, living near the Library of Cong makes it easy, there were over 90 missions in the first part of Iraq that were Spec Ops, about 15 of them were about the oil and most were for locating important Iraqis, and then a few were other random missions like blowing up something or looking for weapons. Also most of the locating ones were didn't go so well, so they're not the best to show on TV (people like to watch when we do good) and sadly only the oil ones seemed to go well.triplemultiplex wrote:ShnuckTuck wrote:The dumbest is people who say we went to Iraq for oil and oil alone. The administration doesn't run the battles they just start the wars, and it is highly likely that the military gave bad intell in order to get the war started.
Also one more important piece of info many people for get to look at. Even if we get every drop of oil from under Iraq we have used more then that within the first 2 months. So again if it was for oil American military minds are far far dumber then I wish to think. The possible, understandable smart, reasons we would have went to Iraq would be
1) making a possible base and friendly area in the heart of the middle east. This would be useful for future ops in the middle east, which is highly likely in todays world.
2) making a capitalist country in the middle east so the it will spread out to the rest of the middle east. If the Iraqis start to become richer and capitalist and the countries around Iraq see this they may change ideas for a better life.
