I hate Howard Stern...

Postby FreedomFighterXL » Thu Apr 26, 2007 3:43 am

I know I'll get at least some flak for saying all this, but I just don't get it. Why do people even like this guy? Anyone can cuss their way to fame, what makes him so special? And those ads on this site with the chick doing a military salute (in the most improper form), what the hell is up with that? Is this somehow his way of supporting the troops? :x

He's a guy who wants to see boobs. Lots of them. All the time. Big or small. Real or fake. Male or female.

In a similar vein, Opie and Anthony are so much funnier and more creative than Stern.

I respect you. I can see now you're someone who has a pretty good idea of what it's like through our eyes. Thanks.

I can't put in words or in text how insulting I think it is that he's using patriotic gestures in his ads. Howard's one of the many reasons our country gets attacked in the first place.

No, that is the opposite of manly.

Somehow I doubt that Bin Laden takes into consideration the apparent abuse of patriotic gestures in ads when approving of terrorist attacks. :?

With that said, I really can't see what's so wrong with this Howard ad. Since it's not obscene and also doesn't convey any sort of hateful message, I'm not offended by it.

Their's also an advirtisement for "Howard tv" at the top of the page. In fact, those are the only ads i've been seeing on this site lately.

I think HSXL was pointing out that Howard is obscene enough to get Muslim extremists very upset. It's actually believed (in much of Islam) that women should even cover their faces in public.

If religion was the main motivational factor for getting the US attacked, Howard sort of helped to contribute. :?

And looking through the eyes of a troop, do you think this is the kind of freedom and first amendment usage they intended to fight for?

I have yet to see Muslims riot as a direct result of anything Howard's ever done. :?

So what? The Islamic fundies hate Western society as a whole, I fail to see how Howard specifically makes things worse.

Yes. If Howard is silenced, that sets a dangerous precedent for the rest of Freedom of Speech to go down the toliet. Don't you remember what happened in South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut? :x

Notice how the statement I made said that he contributed to the view that we are a loose society. Not that attacks are the direct result of Howard.

1. Silencing Howard is in no way a threat to conventional uses of freedom of speech, unless you want to make reference to other people who interview porn stars for ratings, and makes jokes about Brad Pitt being a rapist (hey, I can do that, how come I'm not on Sirius?!).

2. You know very well that all that movie promoted was just swearing at the very most, it's not the same thing.

As long as there are other stations to turn to, there's no reason to censor anything, and it's pure bullsh*t to try and call special pleading on any kind of free expression. You can't claim that this isn't "the kind of freedom and first amendment usage [the troops] intended to fight for" just because you disagree with it. In a free society, the way you deal with objectionable speech is with more speech of your own, not by forcing people to shut up. You can't have it both ways.

I don't much care for Howard Stern either. I find him annoying, and I don't see the humor in what he does. Therefore I've never listened to his show, or watched his movies. Nobody says I have to, and I have no intention of doing so either.

Howard Stern...

I'll take people I never give a sh*t about and never hear about unless somebody else (usually on TV) starts bitching about him.
You know, people like comedian Rush Limbaugh or Rosie O'-my-god-what-big-fat-ass.

And that's why I use FireFox and its Adblock extension. All I see is this:

But it hasn't sped up the load time any. This is the slowest-loading board I have ever visited.
