I watched death note, for reasons unknown to myself, I guess because I have to give shows a least one chance before I can decide I hate them. But anyways, I found it convoluted ,and it had nothing to do with anything real, the same conclusions I draw with all japanimation shows.

As opposed to Frisky Dingo and Metalocalypse, which are so real they make Catcher in the Rye look like Sponge Bob Squarepants.

Also, the Death Note/Evangelion comparison is mindblowingly retarded.

Please do go ahead and massacre the Naruto "writing" team though. Then maybe they'll have to rely more on the original manga and stop padding out episodes of Shippudden to the point of ruining them.

when I say "Real", I don't mean realism, I mean political and cultural satire! Of course there unrealistic! there freaking cartoons! Frisky Dingo and Metalocalypse both contain alot of jokes about culture, thats what I meant when I said they have more to do with real things.

You didn't honestly think that I thought a death metal band could be the worlds tenth largest economy did you?

Some people just take things too seriously I guess.

No, and I don't have a problem with Frisky Dingo or Metocalypse, but I believe you praised these shows and then bashed the entire anime genre and Death Note in particular for "not having to do with anything real." Which is insane on multiple levels.

Maybe I am taking The Adult Swim Thread too seriously though, so I'll just leave it at that right now.

Where can I find such a cartoon? Besides South Park, that is?

For cultural satire, there have been quite a few anime that have satirized the otaku culture in Japan. I don't know of any that satirize Japanese politics, but I know of one that has made a reference to Cheney's hunting skills. :cartmanevillaugh:

Adultswim.com wrote:There has been some concern over the fate of Dethklok because of the break in new episodes. Rest assured, any plans you have made for the ongoing Metalocalypse will not be for naught because there are more on the way. It has just been a busy season for them with the show and the tour so production got a little delayed. They are furiously producing more episodes for you as we speak and we are getting them to you as quickly as we can. Being rockstars is time-intensive and it isn’t all about hot-tubbing and destroying hotel rooms. But that is a large part of it.

Thanks.

Found this on there site, it seems the hostile take over won't be needed.

It's a good show. Created by the people who did Wonder Showzen. Among them is a man named Vernon Chatman, who was a longtime South Park writer and is the voice of Towelie.

I'm not much of an adult swim fan, but that show cracks me up.

Edit: By the way, did you know that Trey sung the theme for Saul of the Mole Men?
