Literal translations always make me laugh a bit. I guess, Japanese is one of those languages which is just hard to translate into English without using phrases that sound rather literal and often very laughable.

I would imagine the same theory would apply to other languages. I remember an old Spanish textbook that translated "You're pulling my leg" into "Me tomas el pelo," which literally, I think, is "You're drinking my hair."

But man, Japan take a cake when coming to the subject.

USELESS FACT (you probably already know)

Donkey Kong got it's distinctively meaningless title from a litteral translation from Japanese INTO English, of George W. Bush, or as some peopol like to say, Stupid Monkey.
