The Writers' Strike may be over soon.

Postby angeldeb82 » Sun Feb 03, 2008 7:28 pm

I noticed that a talk between Hollywood studios and striking writers has been reached and could lead to a deal as early as next week. Here's the link if you want to know more (some mistakes in grammar) : http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22968561

Guess the Academy Awards ceremony is gonna go on after all! :D Let's hope Johnny Depp and/or Sweeney Todd wins the Oscars! ;)

Stop depressing me! I don't want the Oscars to get canceled, okay? :x

And BTW, new episodes of TV series could be produced as early as March if the info is correct. Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Writers_Guild_of_America_strike_%282007%E2%80%93present%29

Didn't South Park sort of start the strike? When people like Matt and Trey got such huge paychecks while other peeps have student wages? It's not their official reason for the strike, but it's what they were REALLY thinking, we all know,South Park IS resopnsab;le for all that's wrong and evil in the world or history, as the Streisand once said.

And was south park even effected by the strike?

No. The writers went to strike over DVD royalties and any royalties they might be missing from stuff aired on the Internet through official sites. Right now, the studios are airing entire TV shows on the Web for "promotional purposes," which are exempt from royalties. This is why they fight.

No, since it doesn't have Union writers working for it.

FINALLY!!!

Writers Vote to End 3-Month Walkout

Now most TV faves will get new episodes, and there will be new shows. And best of all, the Academy Awards WILL GO ON AS SCHEDULED! Now that's a (somewhat) happy ending to a 3-month-old strike! :)

Of course it's still going to take months for new episodes of scripted shows to make it to broadcast. At least our favorite late night comedians will be back at full strength.
