I've lived here and nowhere else (aside from moving from one town in this state to another when I was around six) for nearly 20 years, and blegh. I feel 'rooted' to it, yet I've got this sense of 'meh' about the place. The heat is unbearable @_@. People find it odd when I'm all "OOH COLD!" when they talk about how cold it is up north, and how I act all interested in their "boring northerner states".
Really, I can understand their view, especially if they've lived in those states for so long that they're like "No, nothing's special here, damn it!" like me. But then people are all "FLORIDA, OOH" and I'm like "IT'S NOT THAT GREAT D:" as they are like their northern states.
I won't deny that there are some nice places around here, but the town I happen to live in is rather dull, and other spots in Florida that I've been to haven't been all that special, other than the rare excitement of "OMG ORLANDO", which was last experienced back in '04 (when I went to Universal). I've kind of tired out of theme parks, though. Hearing the stuff I've heard about Clearwater has made me kinda freaked out about going around that area again (Scientology watchdog-city, apparently. Though the last time I went there was 2000 as a kid, long before I knew about the Scientology connection, and the most notable thing I remember was seeing SO MANY TITTY BARS around the place!.
Fort DeSoto is quite nice, though, along with some of the other historical areas around the state. I've rarely been down to Miami, but it looks pretty damn huge from the little I've seen (Downtown itself looks massive), so one could probably get lost down there.
The trouble in moving would be thinking of where and when to move someplace, plus, the whole 'rooted'/clingy thing (even though I'm also tired of the place XD).
Worse than L.A. per-capita wise.
2nd most likely place to get your car stolen in the US
2nd highest number of Foreclosures per-capita in the nation
The guy who invented the Caterpillar tank wheel things.
Some other random famous people I don't care about.
Miami (as far as I know after my family drove through) looks like a wannabe New York City, but hotter and humider. Too bad it's such a long drive from where I am; it's the closest I am to a decent big city.
The foreclosure and crime rates aren't so stellar, either.
By the way I'm a Daywalker
But we have big fans of the show here such as me!
Well......... I'll be living in Sydney for awhile, and Australia was a *colony* of England... I'm halfway there! XD
I dare you to look it up (assuming you don't have a clue where belgium is)
