Are you living in a Computer Simulation?

Postby superiorsavior » Sun Mar 30, 2008 8:29 pm

Watching way too much of the Matrix, I recently got it into my mind to google the question, of how likely it is we really are living in a computer simulation. The most convincing answer, provided over hyah, was shockingly thought provoking like an episode of the good old SP.

What do you think the chances of us living in a simulation would be? If we were, and if you were givven the chance, would you take 'the red pill' and leave for the real world or the 'blue pill' and stay here forever? Would it really matter at all if we were living in one?

Ok, first off, The Matrix is awesome!

Second, it all depends what the “real” world is like. Is it like the world in The Matrix, completely over-run by pissed off machines that use humans as a power source? If so, I think I’d prefer to stay right here and be oblivious to it all. I got enough to worry about. If the real world isn’t so bad, then maybe I wouldn’t mind getting jacked out, then being able to return later whenever with crazy Matrix powers, like Bullet Time (not like Neo, but you know what I mean).

There would be a lot of other things I'd do, and people I would go find after that.

The video on this site is so completely funny. It's about 10 minutes long, but you will laugh your ass off at this poor chap.

In a sense, the human genome is really just zeros and ones, so the possibilities are endless...

No, that is the opposite of manly.

Mah Philosophy teacher showed us this video. It is a classic. Poor kid who gets sucked in the game. How do we know we're not like him, being tricked by illusionist Cartman man? :)

It doesn't matter... we're all going to die anyway.

Yeah, but we could postpone it for a few centuries with new technology... that'd sure kick ass :P
