I actually liked that album. It does have its blander moments, like Wither, but nonetheless, I thought the rest of it was pretty good. It's not quite up to par with albums like Images and Words, or Train of Thought, IMO, but still overall a good album.

Can't wait to see those guys next month, with Zappa Plays Zappa! 8)

I was gonna see them, but then that would've been half of my birthday present so f*ck that. I'm gettin me an iPhone and at least 20 CDs.

But yea, the rest of the album wasn't bad, it wasn't my favorite... at all, but it was alright.

Here's some good metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19UZd_DKs2Q&feature=channel_page

Those guys actually went on tour with Opeth Dream Theater and 3 last year, and they played in Boston.... f*ck me for not knowing, it would've been the best concert ever.

EDIT: Necrophagist just released a new song called Dawn and Demise, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXijB2OsIyw the solo and drumming in this song are amazing.

Between the Buried and Me = Amazing. I saw them a few years ago in portland and they were incredible.

And that new Necrophagist song is great, too!

Morbid Angel has been teasing fans with this new song for a while now.

Can't f*cking wait for the new MA record. First one with David Vincent since Domination!

People overuse the term orgasmic, THIS video is orgasmic.

Sucks that BOTH of these guys are dead.

RTL, yeah, those videos ARE orgasmic, two of my favorite Guitarists of all time, and their both dead...

And concerning the new megadeth song, yeah, it's really good, the first thing I thought when I heard it was "Holy sh*t, this is the best since Rust in Peace!"
I can't wait till the new album.

Anyway, what's been going on with you lately, music wise? I have really been getting into 60's psychadelic stuff, acoustic stuff, and reggae lately...

Long time no see this thread. :|
Well, I was into my DSBM mood, so I found out this band.
Verdunkeln. Verdunkeln, in German, means "hide".

Without consulting metal-archives, I thought these guys are singing depressive ambiental viking black metal with doom metal riffs.
Have a look.

Derpa der... a lot. I realized it's a better idea to get better acquainted with some more famous stuff like Sex Pistols or Rush or Rolling Stones or Boston or Police songs even though I realize there's better stuff out there. It's just necessary to know about all that kind of stuff.

I've been getting into a good amount of heavy metal, like iron Maiden has some amazing songs, but not Run to the Hills or Number of the Beast, I'm talking like Rime of the Ancient Mariner, that's the heavy metal equivalent to The Last Baron.

50's country swing, some hip hop, some jazz, everything.

I think the highlight of the new stuff I've been listening to are:

Metal: Death, Glutton, Train of Thought and Images and Words by Dream Theater, and Symphony X

Funk: Isaac Hayes (The Black Moses) (voice of Chef) and of course, dead.

Weird: Dr Gloop and Buckethead and Les Claypool and Louis Johnson

Jazz: Ella Fitgerald, Pat Metheny, Allan Holdsworth, And the king, Shawn Lane

And then of course Neil Young, T Rex, Diamondhead, Bob Dylan, etc.

And also I have discovered the best lyric ever: "Would you like my confetti orgasm?" from the song Ripsnorter by Glutton. My f*cking guitar teacher came up with that lyric!

Haha, that lyric is sweet!

Yeah, for me,

Metal: Black metal, but not mayhem and darkthone sh*t, good stuff, like Lord Belial, Cobalt, and Drudkh

Rock: Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, ELP, Blind Melon, Ten Years After

Avant Garde: Diablo Swing Orchestra, Unexpect, Estradasphere, Sleepy Time Gorilla Museum

Ska/Reggae: Reel Big Fish, Sublime, Bob Marley, Lee Perry, Toots and the Maytals

also some ambient stuff like Senmuth, and some swing jazz, like Benny Goodman.

Janis Joplin and King Crimson all the f*cking way bro.

A few bands you should check out (you probably already know) are Secret Chiefs 3, Masada, and Zu.

There's really no way to define any of those bands with some stupid label.

I saw Unearth a few nights ago, and I've gotta say, those guys have come a LONG way since they first started out. Their new album is their best yet, IMO.

The Acacia Strain
All Shall Perish
Amon Amarth
And Then There Were None (when they were still metalcore)
Annotations of an Autopsy
Anthrax
As I Lay Dying
Beneath The Massacre
The Black Dahlia Murder
Bleeding Through
The Breathing Process
Bury Your Dead
Carnifex
Cradle of Filth
Damageplan
Darkest Hour
Despised Icon
and that's not even half of the sh*t off of my itunes.

I'm actually seeing the Acacia Strain in a few weeks on the Summer Slob tour with Evergreen Terrace and Cruel Hand. That's gonna be a brutal show. And I saw BYD a couple weeks ago, too. I'm not that big into "metalcore" but at the same time, I'm not that picky when it comes to loud, heavy, brutal sh*t. Plus, I give props to any band that decides to beat the living f*ck out of Prospect Hill, cause that band f*cking sucks and deserves whatever beatings they get.

Well, i like metal, but I'm a bit new to it. I could use some recomendations.

I already like:

Metallica
Megadeth
and some others I can't remember 'cause I'm so tired.
Taking the banner of the holy Marsh! Death to the vile lard!
