f*cking economy!

Postby triplemultiplex » Thu Feb 12, 2009 11:12 pm

The sh*tty economy has taken a big toll on my place of work this week. The parent company decided we needed to loose four people to stay profitable & sh*t. Now we have a grand total of 9 people working out of the office. There were 16 people at this time last year.

The ax came down hard and two fellas that have been there waayy longer than I have got laid off. It f*cking sucks because I considered them friends and they really made working at this place enjoyable. Today was just terrible as everyone found out. It was like somebody f*cking died or something.

The higher-ups at our company fought the parent company tooth-and-nail over these layoffs but the intransigence of the parent company prevailed. Us 'survivors' are now going to have a lot more work to do.

With my immediate boss gone, the other remaining cartographer and I are left to manage our department; a department now consisting of the two of us. In a way, it's kind of like a promotion; a promotion where you get more responsibility and more bullsh*t and don't get a pay raise.

So I will now transition into a multi-directional, profanity-laced, possibly misguided rant against the forces and entities that may have contributed to this f*cking assh*le horseshit:

f*ck you greedy motherfucking Wall Street ass clowns and your f*cking speculating, fake-money stealing. f*ck you stupid piece of sh*t banks with your dumbf*ck loans to retards. f*ck you assfucking closet-case Republicans and your asinine deregulation elephant sh*t. f*ck you cocktard Democrats and your spineless, Fannie Mae-humping cockshit. f*ck you Republicans again for your piss-trickle-down, demonstrably false rich people tax cuts for greedy dickfaces. f*ck you, "The Bobs"-Guy-from-Office-Space that came here from the parent company last month. f*ck you, new parent company CEO, you spoiled, silver spoon f*cktard. f*ck you, capitalism and your retarded reliance on the myth of infinite expansion. f*ck you US Congress and your ass-tastic political back-and-forth, circle jerk motherfuckery. f*ck you George W. Bush because I just don't like you. f*ck you, old parent company CEO for being old and retiring at 89 or whatever the f*ck. f*ck you, my company's CEO, for being kind of a douche sometimes. f*ck all those gullible motherf*ckers who fell for all that sub-prime bullsh*t. And finally, f*ck you, Jack Daniels and the way you bottle 1.75 liters of your product so as to make it easy to get completely f*cked up without putting much of a dent into a single bottle.

<clears throat, wipes perspiration from brow and adjusts collar>

So, what are everyone's thoughts about our current economic situation, the stimulus, and so on?

I live in Argentina and it's getting tough in here too.

My sister started working in a hotel in August and they aren't getting as much business there as they had expected for the summer (its summer here right now)

My brother works on IBM and he says they are firing plenty of people, a lot from the US specially since they need to be payed more than the people from here because the dollar has more value than the peso (the money we use), so you know, the minimum wage in here is much less than the US one.

And now we are starting to get people knocking on doors for food of any kind once again, we've been getting very little of that in the last couple of years, but around December it started again.

It's gonna be a tough couple of years D:

Wow.... :|

I'm really glad you got that out of your system before I saw you on XBL!

Anyway, yea, it sucks. I hope this sh*t Obama is pushing will help, because if not, it's only gonna f*ck us up 10 times worse.

Money is worthless... only that it allows you to obtain stuff like food. The system is corrupt and will probally go down hill, no matter what you try. People want to get more more more, when other people need more. They fire whomever they wish for no purpose at all...

When I get out of college, it's going to be really hard to find a job to work at. More than likely get one I don't want. But right now I am working at a no brainer job for min wage. It sucks because it's boring and I am probally not going to get promoted, but I doubt that I will get laid off because they need students to work there.

For better or worse, the $787 billion stimulus plan is probably going to pass. It made it through the House 246 - 183 a little while ago.

Regardless of one's ideology about government and the economy it seems this'll be better than nothing.

$52 a month isn't bad, man...

It SEEMS small, but that right there is the phone bill, or Internet bill, or if you're conserving right, an electric bill. It DOES help.

I wonder if socialism can help At-lest it seams to stabalize the economy by which I mean Socialism, not public services, I think we can rest quite assured that well yes it does qualify as a mixed system, A mixed system in europe is when the state plays a part in the economy.[just so you know]

Well, socializm by itself isn't bad. As you can see it is what capitalism has turned to when all the capital ran away. However, the "socialism" the US is going to get is not half of the real thing. What's going to happen is what always happens: the economy is stabilised, but on the level where the rich become richer and the poor poorer. Hasn't this happened before? I can't remember the date... was it between 1920s and 50s?

Either way, everyone is being laid off. In my area, there are 50 students and 300 physical workers that have lost their jobs. Which is bad news for me because there is a lot more competition than there was. There are similar numbers all around the market, but they lower allong with how independant from the overall market a state is. Or how close to socialism it is. =P

Btw, the 700 bilions or whatever the number was shouldn't be a surprise, however, it should also be considered as political propaganda. I don't think Obama will do much to help the market. He'll do something, probably, but it won't be much on the larger scale.

I feel bad for everyone who has lost his or her job; I've been there and will probably be there again. :(

Man, what a crappy time this is! :x

If we allowed for compasion we would be condemed as terrorists,.

Sorry but I understand where the guy is comming from but that won't make things better we have to give to the poor, and take a at-least a little from the rich, make our political system better and such things sorry, but, weather or not hugo chaves is a dictator…… my country will be called a dictatorship if it applies real well meaning policies by the U.S.
By the way he technically isn't and I’m sur we can agree that bush has more unjust powers, .

Thank god I'm safe from most of this. My mom is considered the most valuable person at her workplace. She recently got a 20,000 dollar raise. :D
