This is AMERICA, right?

Postby Just_Jackie » Thu Feb 12, 2009 11:59 pm

Funny, I thought we had freedom of speech in this country.

http://www.hollyscoop.com/miley-cyrus/m ... 19284.aspx

Some stupid, moronic, money hungry woman...who is Asian American...is suing Miley Cyrus for what will come up to be $4 BILLION dollars, over this...

Image

Now, I honestly don't believe she was trying to be racist. I think she's 16 and did something that A LOT of people do. The difference is Miley Cyrus has money and this person saw this picture of a bunch of teenage kids as a chance to get her hands on it. Notice none of the other people are being named in the lawsuit. Only Cyrus. Hmm....only the rich one. Coincidence?

No.

But even if she was trying to be racist, there is no law that says you can't be racist. As a matter of fact, The Constitution protects your right to be racist if that's how you feel. This is bullsh*t. I hope the Cyrus family counter sues this bitch for slander, because this is nothing short of slanderous...not to mention rediculous.

1. Class-action lawsuit filed over a picture.
2. The defendant is a 16-year old pop superstar.
3. Racism is the justification.

To answer your question Jackie, this is, in fact, more American than baseball and apple pie.

This proves it once and for all - it is actually possible to file a lawsuit against someone...because you don't like their face!

As much as I despise Miley, I don't think she deserves to be sued. At all. It's just a picture people, get over it.

Have to agree with Piptweek, though this isn't just an american phenomenon anymore, if you live in a society where people can sue they probably will, though she'll probably loose. I so want to listen to that Wierd Al Song, "i'll sue you." This is like a south park parrody as it is I don't know how they could make this more extreme for a parrody.

Wait a minute, look at this picture again:

Image

She's posing for a picture with a bunch of Asian dudes some of whom are also doing the squinty-eye thing. They are clearly all having a good time and doing it in a joking, totally not-serious manner. How is that offensive to anyone? No one should be taking this seriously at all and Cyrus shouldn't have to apologize to anyone.

...or have to pay $4 B for it.

If she should have to pay for $4 B for that...when are the KKK going to have to start paying out for their obviously hateful acts (which is obviously more hateful than ANYTHING Cyrus has done) that have been going on for as long as this country has been around?

[joke]You forgot that fair laws only apply to these kinds of cases, other wise the white man always wins, you fail to understand the legal system, obviously. Sorry for your misfortune misunderstanding.[/joke]
But siriously I think their point to my joke.

Yeah I can see where your coming from but maybe the point is rather that these frivolous casses and the laws being used for that don't apply on someone killing your family and commited racist atrocities they apply only to photos like that one, not even to ‘artistic expresion’ which does hypothetically cover photographs anyway.

This is seriously unfair. I hate her music, but she doesn't deserve that. She's obviously has some kind of mental disease or maybe she's just greedy. Honestly, if she wins and makes a 16 year old pay her 4b, I will protest, because this is ridicoulus.

Apparently, the proper compensation for this act of silliness is to fork over one's entire net worth.

That's like stepping on somebody's foot and they turn around an say, "f*ck you, assh*le! Now give me your entire life savings!!"

I'm kind of wondering why no one is more upset that Miley is 16 years old...and at a party where...judging by the guy on the far (my) right...there is alcohol being served. :?
