That's the problem. I did. It happens with, or without the updates. With or without the newest drivers from NVIDIA....

I made myself a custom CD anyway. It installs XP with SlanXP as the default theme. :P

(This isn't my PC, I wouldn't get a cat on my background. It is to show you the theme, I Googled it. )

Now that Vista's been out there for a couple years, is there anyone who's still hesitant to move over to that OS for whatever reason? When I bought this computer two years ago, there was an option to get XP still instead of Vista because of consumer hesitation.

While the OS hasn't bothered me at all, the huge change that occurred to the MS Office programs was really hard to get used to. Especially when I go between using the "classic" versions at work and the new version at home. Literally a lifetime of experience with the layout of Word and Excel went mostly out the window (oop, accidental pun).

Yes, MOST the things in Vista are completely new. I wish they would have kept XP's layout and just improved the looks, speed, stability, etc...

Instead they focused on looks, and a new layout. This took away from time to make it stable and speed it up. Result? Well, use Vista and see.

Slow, less stable, and hard to find sh*t that you used to use in XP. It's not that it's gone, it's that MS decided to move it for some reason. And NOT for the better. It's harder to find for a beginner...

That is why I am still using XP with Vista's icons for looks, and a custom theme to further the cosmetics. The result is this:

Me too. That is to say, my computer won't support Vista. Dad's computer will, but he doesn't want to change it. I want to try and build a computer at some time in future, but I think I'lll try Win7.

Speaking of Windows 7, that's what I'm gonna try on my Vista laptop when it comes out. I have the RC on my laptop, downloaded, but I want to have the official version of Windows 7 installed on here. Until then, I'll stick with Vista.

Hehehe .... I got a T1 connection, suckers

50.02 Mb/s-download
5.36 Mb/s-upload

I think the internet I had was at the most .5 Mb/s download, .03 upload, but don't count me on that.... I'll have to run the test again when I get there. But the difference is noticeable.

Oh wise one, tell me how to use it efficiently.

I'm not sure... I know I can't illegally download stuff and can't use 5GB in a 24 hour period (which I won't be able to do :P)
