Looks like Conan is out.

Postby BRMBug » Sun Jan 10, 2010 11:44 pm

[was "Looks like Leno is out."]

NBC is pulling the plug on his show. No word yet as to whether they're pushing Conan and Fallon back, but both have said they don't want to move. So... there.

Found this on another forum.

TMZ wrote:NBC has given Conan O'Brien the option to either do his show from midnight to 1 or leave the network, sources tell TMZ.
As TMZ first reported, after the Olympics, Jay Leno will get his 11:30 PM time period back. We're told network execs have told Conan they will let him decide if he wants the midnight to 1:00 AM time slot. If he does, Leno's show will only be a half hour. If Conan walks, Leno will get a full hour, informed sources tell TMZ.

Our sources say Conan has not decided what he wants. We do know he's pissed, because he was given no advanced warning this was coming. Conan's people told NBC they are considering the offer. Translation: Mr. O'Brien -- I have Rupert Murdoch on line one, Stephen McPherson on line two, John Landgraf on line three, Jeff Wachtel on line four ...

We're told if Conan gets another offer, even though NBC could block the move, they will let him go and give Leno the full hour.

It sounds like should Conan decide to leave, Fox is showing great interest in acquiring him. I'm all for this, as NBC is royally screwing Conan with this, and he hasn't been funny on the Tonight Show. He's not a 10:30 timeslot guy.

It seems that the new lineup will be ABC with their 1/2 hour Nightline, NBC with their 1/2 hour The Jay Leno Show, and then late night programming with ABC with Jimmy Kimmel and NBC with Conan (if he stays). That means that CBS will be the odd-man out with David Letterman starting at 11:35.

I wonder what people will watch: Letterman at 11:35 then switch to Conan or Jimmy at 12:05? Where I live, King of the Hill comes on at 12:00 and 12:30, so I'll stick with that no matter what happens at the three networks.

Wait:  There won't be any King of the Hill because where I live it's on FOX, and Conan might go to FOX. This has me stumped. :?

Well, I'm sure they'll move KotH to another time slot. You know who's just sittin' back, eating popcorn and laughing about all of this? Dave. I'm sure he's just enjoying the hell out of all of this.
Conan should move to Fox. He could cut loose and have a show more like his old one, Masturbating Bear and all.

Conan would begin at 11.... :P

Also, FOX affiliates would have to agree to give the hour back to the network instead of syndication...it's a mess

I doubt Conan would be too much "riske" on Fox. However, an earlier time where as the news is at 10:00. He would be competing against the other network news

I think we found ourselves a winner....I am just WAITING on Conan. I hear he will leave, but he has to make it official!!! :tweek: :tweek: :tweek: :tweek:

I came in here expecting a news story about him revealing he was a homosexual.

I am sorely disappointed.

All the cool people are watching Colbert at 11:35 EST and don't care about the broadcast networks and their feeble attempts to entertain us in that time slot.

Leno and NBC have no class.

Postby zipalooie » Wed Jan 13, 2010 3:44 pm

Pretty messed up how Leno shafted Letterman back in the early 90's and now he shafted Conan twice. Jay should do the right thing and end The Jay Leno Show.

Bug: you better get cable or else you'll be sh*t out of luck in about 2 years....with basically NO television :(

Tis sad that Conan is being carried away by this. I wish him the best of luck at FOX (if it does happen...)

Conan statement.

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=xprnw.20100112.LA36584&show_article=1

Apparently he has no offers, and if NBC cleans up their problem he won't leave.

Also, he's sorry about his hair.

Maybe Conan should stay at 11:30 (11:35?), and Jay Leno be on maybe once a week; maybe at 8:00 PM for a half-hour? Then a drama or something could be at 10:00, and all is well in the broadcasting world. What do you guys think?
