In "The War on Christmas", Christmas is winning

Postby angeldeb82 » Wed Nov 24, 2010 1:11 am

For increasing number of retailers this year, no more 'Happy holidays'.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40260889/ns ... sumer_news

It seems that even the Grinch hates the commercialism of Christmas in the 2000 film How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

The Grinch wrote:That's what it's all about, isn't it? That's what it's always been *about*. Gifts, gifts... gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts. You wanna know what happens to your gifts? They all come to me. In your garbage. You see what I'm saying? In your *garbage*. I could hang myself with all the bad Christmas neckties I found at the dump. And the avarice... The avarice never ends! "I want golf clubs. I want diamonds. I want a pony so I can ride it twice, get bored and sell it to make glue." Look, I don't wanna make waves, but this *whole* Christmas season is stupid, stupid, stupid!

God, those people are f*cking idiots. Ok, as I pagan, I think that if these people are going to boycott stores that say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, I say that they shouldn't be including any traditions that are pagan in origin in how they celebrate the holiday. I am serious.

How f*cking petty. I mean what is it to them if some who works at a store, someone they don't know, and who they are only going to talk to for a minute at the most, says Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays? I mean, I couldn't care less which greeting people say to me when I am shopping around this time of year, I just want to get what I am shopping for and get out. f*cking petty, stupid retards.

"Christmas" isn't 'winning' jack shit. I celebrate Christmas in a secular matter, the way it should be, with friends, family, gift-giving, shopping, decorations, and lights. It's not a Christian holiday in origin whatsoever. It's pagan.

Fuck the American Family Association. They're a bunch of uneducated Jesus-freak rednecks. And fuck their members, too. They don't even beat around the bush with their bullsh*t. They think just because a company doesn't use the word 'Christmas' in their advertising, they they're either anti-Christian or trying to ban Christmas altogether. Are you fucking kidding me?

The AFA gave the department store chain Kohl's a very hard time about using the term "Happy Holidays" in period advertising instead of "Merry Christmas", and subsequently put the retailer on its "naughty" list. Never mind the fact that Kohl's is owned by a Jew. They also boycotted Ford because they ran some advertisements for their cars in some gay magazines. The AFA thinks Christians, their beliefs, and their holidays [with traditions stolen from other religions] are superior, and that America is a "Christian country". Why am I not surprised that this kind of disgusting filth comes from the South in this case?

Yes, there are non-Christians out there who get offended when people say "Merry Christmas". They need to get over it. Nobody has bad intentions when they wish you a Merry Christmas. But to say it's the only way to go shows a lack of common sense.

Fuck the AFA, fuck its members, and fuck anyone who affiliates with them. Period.

In the end, it all comes down to 1 thing. Money. Doesn't matter who you are or what you are. Those who don't want to "offend" avoid it so they don't lose money. Those who use the word "Christmas" in their marketing only do it to sell stuff.

Yeah, it is all about money. You know if AFA was really serious, they would take the commercialism out of how they celebrate Christmas and just go to church or something. f*ck them and their f*cked up families. Since Kolhs gave in, I am glad I have never actually bought anything there, and I have only been in that store once. Their sh*t is too expensive anyway.

Who cares?

Honestly.

It is a difference of two words between "happy holidays" and "merry Christmas". Two damn words.

This shouldn't even be close to an issue.

If only people had brains and hearts both would be greater good in the world. People are only spreading joy because they care about each other right? Why does it matter what the cap term is? Oh? America is fat full with greed, what is that? Yes, unfortunately that is the case. The epic fail has been voted. Stop the batshit retardtivity if you're smart folks; you will live vast and well!

I'm Pagan, I'm not offended by "Christmas" in the least

Hi Lolli, I am pagan too..Nice to meet you.

And Wii, it isn't that I am offended by people saying Merry Christmas, I could care less about that..What I am concerned about is the fact that the AFA got their way because of their bitching. Just take a look at the link kfgg posted. All that anti gay stuff is disturbing to me, since I am bi, and I have a lot of friends who are gay men..That sh*t applies to us. And if those assh*les get their way with making stores say "Merry Christmas", what do you think they are going to go after next? assh*les like that don't want anyone who disagrees with them to have a voice in this society.

I was referring to the AFA, not you.

I have only one question: Can we give this war the proper treatment and give it a Wiki-style treatment of wars, with Jesus, the AFA, and Lunatics in one bracket, Pagans, Atheists, and Kittens who ruin trees in one, and everyone else in the third?
That would be an interesting breakdown.

But, as a Catholic, f*ck the AFA. And who cares if people say Happy Holidays? It isn't like they go to your calendar and cross out Christmas on it and put in "Holiday...mas". bitching about semantics is why the AFA gets no respect from anyone regarding anything anywhere.
That's how it's down here on the farm!

If someone is Christmas shopping (You can usually tell) I would prefer to say "Merry Christmas" instead of "Have a good Holiday"

But only after Hanukkah.

Thanksgiving doesn't really have a religion tied to it so you can say "Happy Thanksgiving" to anybody

It's kinda dumb that people had to stop saying Merry Christmas in the first place... aren't there more offensive things in the world? Like who kicked up enough of a fuss in the first place to get it changed to Happy Holidays? It's all Winter, f*ck the details...
