4th of July 2011 Thread

Postby zzyzx 1 » Fri Jul 01, 2011 10:16 pm

Well, this is the 4th of July weekend. A time for fireworks, BBQs, picnics, traveling.

There are free fireworks shows, and paid fireworks shows with entertainment that goes on all day until sundown (which is around 9:00 pm this time of year) for the fireworks to start.

So what is everybody doing?

Last year, we rode bicycles to a fantastic free show that lasted over 20 minutes 8)

This year, with my bicycle injury, I can't ride my bike. So I am going with my brother and his family to a different fireworks show. But first we're have a big BBQ with my sister-in-laws' delicious turkey chili to put on the hot dogs :)

What are you guys doing for the 4th of July?

Also, if you want to talk about the history of the 4th of July, or something you enjoyed doing on a past 4th of July - post it here! This is the 4th of July thread 2011; anything goes (as long as it relates to the 4th of July).

We're probably gonna have a big barbecue across the street at my brother's house. My grandparents may actually be coming out here for it, too. It just depends on what my grandmother decides to do.

I'm heading out to New York to visit family for the 4th of July. I'm on way there now. I'm currently in North Carolina having coffee in a Starbucks with a couple of buddies who decided to come along.

best fourth of july? easy- when i was 10, me, my older brother and cousins each bought a gross of bottle rockets. it took a lot of work, but we got them all linked together to set them off........24 years later my grampy is still pissed about us blowing up that rose bush.........

It'll just be me and Dad around here this weekend. We might go and watch the fireworks display out at Lake Carolyn. There's a great place to see the whole shebang across the highway from there. I can't really see dragging out the grill just to barbeque for the two of us. I might just kludge up some dinner from what's in the fridge, since most places will be closed.

I just made it to NYC in time for the fireworks. It was one hell of a road-trip.
