I want seperate window, this doesn't slow down my computer. However messages on here bother me, they are a lot more compressed you know. And these ads why do we need these ads?

Running the BBS on my slow poke computer has been a pain in the butt even with my megafast high speed connection. I really miss the old popup window.

The current setup does the following:

Takes up more memory.
Causes internet explorer to crash for no reason.
Causes the computer to shutdown from too much memory usage.

And its also harder to read.

So yeah, seperate window all the way if its at all possible.

I tried Firefox. IE takes up 8MB RAM regularly. Firefox takes up 28MB RAM regulary. When on here, IE takes up 27MB RAM. I have 64MB RAM overall. . So until I get a new computer, Firefox is a nono.

Yes, Firefox is probably using more memory than IE, although IE is probably using more memory than you're led to believe.

In any case, supposedly Firefox 1.1 (still in dev) is much better in this regard.

uhm, yea, firefox need at least 64mb of ram
why dont you try opera? the drawback is it hasnt all the plugins to block ads or flash (or i didnt found it) and some sites might load ¨not so good¨, but with just 32mb of ram, it rocks! :)

also, try to disable flash at all cost, even blacklist macromedia's site from hosts file or firewall.

Wow, I leave for about 7 months, come back, and discover that this poll did absolutely nothing. The ads are still here, it's not in a separate window. Don't the results of this poll speak for themselves? Damn, I miss the old BBS.

I haven't really had any problems but since so many people have... I guess I'll vote for yes.

A version of the forum in a separate window would definitely be a big step…but I’m not sure if it will f*ck the board up. I don’t fully know how they have the forum set up,, MOD-wise, and for all I know, they probably have some kind of MOD installed that lets you integrate phpBB into the main page template or something…it shows. The tricky thing with forum MODs (modifications/modules, not moderators), is that if you remove one without doing some stuff first, you could break everything! That’s why you gotta be careful and fallow certain directions properly. If you do something wrong, you can get a shitload of PHP errors, and those are really annoying. This, coming from someone who’s tried modifying phpBB, and almost broke a bunch of stuff!
Buy yeah, I personally think a separated forum window would be awesome!
