A person with Tourettes thoughts on ep...

Postby ihavets » Thu Oct 04, 2007 2:53 am

I actually thought it was very well done. While I do think the older guy (Dr. Donaldson) was over the top. I think a very good scene was where Kyle goes to the therapy session. The kids like the red head who shouted, the girl who hitched her neck and snapped and the girl who blinked her eyes and bopped her mouth are all very real and a better reflection of what TS is. I have actually had a tick very similar to the blinking tick.

I do applaud MNT for their underlying message, that people with this rare form of TS should not be representation of the disorder. I know that might have not been attending, but I think it was a good thing.

Also, people do need to understand that TS a disorder, not an illness. It is known as an inherent neurological disorder.

In the beginning of the episode, when the Mom is trying to explain to the people in the store about what TS did, she actually did a good job explaining what TS is in a very simplistic manner.

Overall, I am very pleased with the episode, it was a lot less offenses then I thought it would be. Also, I'm glad that Cartman learned his lesson at the end.

Just remember, after watching this episode, I hope you realize that TS is more then random swearing which is an incredibly rare form of the disorder.

And remember, KEEP AN OPEN MIND ABOUT TS!

Thanks,
Zach

Well, when they make fun of something, it makes sense, and they understand, and are caring of the people the joke is on.

(except Scientologists. )

It goes to show the people "made fun of" in episodes don't always take offense too. Good to see you liked it man.

It's always nice to see some people can still take a joke.

Uh, no.

I commend you for giving us your thoughts, ihavets, as it gives me a perspective of an opinion from someone who has Tourettes. Bravo.

No problem!

Just trying to raise awareness!

For what it's worth, I still thought the ep was hilarious.

Did anyone notice that in the first scene, the toy store, the employee was wearing a button that said, "TS"
