Matt and Trey In Trouble Again

Postby CartmansWhore » Sat Oct 11, 2008 12:56 am

Paramount is now upset over the footage from their season premiere this past week of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas violently raping Indiana Jones.

IMO If Matt and Trey haven't gotten in some trouble or pissed someone off they're not doing their job

... I would say define 'trouble'

it sounds to me they are just the victim, again, of more complainers

to be honest what Lucas did to Star Wars was barely forgiveable
I still want my money back for SWG

man.. I was here on the Big Island for part of the filming ... and ... I'm not sure what I saw....

Oh WTFE.The big wigs at Paramount need to get their own sh*t together before they criticize anyone else, let alone an Emmy Award winning show.

I wouldn't mind if that episode was forgotten forever, wiped off DVD release too... not because its "controversial" but because its just badly put together.
Matt and Trey will be punk rock any way they can, and if that means making their show horrible, just less care put into it, I worry they'll do it. As long as it amounts to something though, I'm okay with it.

Just my two-cents.

They're not trying to destroy their own show; the success they've had for so long has obviously made them complacent and a bit lazy.

South Park is, for Trey and Matt, a forum for their commentary on the world. We know that they feel let down by Spielberg and Lucas - so they're going to return to that theme to roast them for their own satisfaction regardless of whether the rehashing annoys the fans. But I digress...

Maybe I'm just stupid, but I don't believe that Paramount is truly "upset" over this episode. The episode is publicity for the movie (and as they say, there's no such thing as "bad" publicity) and Paramount's statement about it is drawing even more attention.

I'm calling bullsh*t on this.

Paramount is just pissed because this episode came out right before the DVD release of that Crystal Skull movie. But I got 10 bucks that says Paramount will sell plenty of copies.

Even though George Lucas copy and pasted the light saber duel between Vader & Obewon from "The Revenge of the Sith" into the middle of "Kingdom", they'll do fine.
(Seriously, he just replaced light sabers with swords, ore-carrying hover-things with Jeeps and molten lava with jungle.)

(Actually, that was the only part I truly didn't like. That and the refrigerator scene mentioned in the episode. Hard to suspend my disbelief there. Were the crystal skull aliens any more outrageous then all the demons pouring out of the Ark? They were? Damn, maybe that movie did suck a little.)

Free publicity counts as trouble now?

When it's bad publicity about a bad movie, yes. :P

When it comes to the bottom line, there's no such thing as bad publicity.
