Aw man, he's the world's most famous Hawaiian.

Eh, we'll still seem him in the traditional opening day Super Bowl rematch game assuming there's a season. It'll be months before the NFL punishes him.

GB XLV CHAMPS!!

Derek Jeter of the Yankees Gets Hit No. 3,000, a Home Run to Left

Derek Jeter became the 28th player in baseball history to reach 3,000 hits on Saturday, with a home run to left field in the third inning at Yankee Stadium off of David Price of Tampa Bay. In doing so, Jeter became the first player in the Yankees’ storied history to reach the hallowed number.

Jeter is the active leader in hits and the first player to collect his 3,000th since Craig Biggio of Houston in 2007. He is also the first to achieve the milestone at Yankee Stadium, old or new, and the fourth youngest player to do it. Only Ty Cobb, Hank Aaron and Robin Yount joined the club at a younger age than Jeter, who turned 37 on June 26.

Jeter accomplished it all without playing anywhere but shortstop, the most physically demanding position on the field besides catcher. Only three other players, Honus Wagner, Cal Ripken Jr. and Yount, have recorded 3,000 hits while playing most of their careers at shortstop.

FIFA Women's Soccer:

USA beats France 3-1 to make the Finals!

They'll play Sunday against either Japan or Sweden, whoever wins that matchup, starting REAL SOON!

We could get the NFL back by the end of business Friday! WOO HOO! (Well, I hope so, at least. Here's the link below.)

That'll be good. I gotta start writing up the weekly lists for my annual pools. My family, friends and I play for points.

More than that, but baseball's getting to be quite frustrating around here. Eleven losses in a row, and when we finally do get some offense, the pitching chokes.

We can hardly stand or wait,
Please football, don't be late!

C'mon NFL, you can do it! Don't dick us over now, you rich motherfuckers.

Looks like it'll be game on pretty soon. Then Green Bay can get to the business of defending that title.

At least baseball has been fairly good around these parts this summer. The Boozers are in 1st again to start the day. It's shaping up to be a fun second half in the Central, especially with the way Pittsburgh has surprised everyone this year.

**UPDATE**

The NFL owners just voted in favor of the new collective bargaining agreement. All we need now is the players union to re-certify and vote on it. It's so close I can taste it.

Apparently, there are a few minor issues the players still want to get worked out, but they can't do that until they recertify, which is something they don't want to do if they feel like they're being pressured by the owners to do so. More importantly, they want some time to read the proposed CBA. I mean would you sign a contract without reading it first? I wouldn't.

Baseball around here has become more of a GD joke than ever.

The Mariners have set a team record with their 15th consecutive loss, beating their previous mark of 14, set in 1992.

But it's not so much getting there as it is how they've done it, and if it isn't one thing, it's another. At any certain time, a Mariners' game will have any of these problems:

--Lack of hits/runs

--Lousy bullpen

--Should they get a lead, it's already gone when the other team is at-bat

--Error-prone offense

--Chone Figgins!

For that last one, true, he hasn't played much lately, but for $9.5 million a year, you'd think he'd be more productive. Instead, we're possibly stuck with a lazy-axx infielder diva. If he does get traded, we're stuck eating a huge amount of money left on his contract.

Sorry for the double-post, but unless you've been hibernating in the heat all Monday, then you've probably heard...

LET THERE BE FOOTBALL!

I, for one, am glad the lockout is finally over. Of course, now there's going to be free agent transactions left and right to the point where you won't be able to recognize your favorite team's roster...

Things are going to get reeeeeeeally interesting now!

This is going to be a circus. 6 months worth of trades, signings and millions of dollars thrown around in just a couple weeks. How will the analysts needlessly dissect to death every deal with so many going on? Chris Mortenson is going to need some amphetamines.

The streak is over! Snapped at 17.

The M's must have been really PO'd today. It's amazing that they finally put another win together, 9-2, but the fact that it was against the Yankees is the real shocker!

More 'good' news for Seattle.
You're quarterback is going to be Tavarius Jackson.
Ouch; my sympathies.

Around here, the Packers seem to have just about everyone back. I think we only lost a defensive end to free agency. Plus, we get dudes back that were hurt last year. Ryan Grant and Jermichael Finley; welcome back, dudes!

Two weeks 'til preseason!

I seriously hope the Packers are ready to become repeat champs! The way they're hyping up the Eagles...JHC!!
