Also: Why were the threads "replaced"?
Because 20,000 replies wreak havoc on the system. And no one looks at the oldest posts. And I provided a link to the locked thread if you really want to go back and read the replies there.
And now that you brought it up, I'll lock this after 1000 posts or so and create the THIRD one. And if you're wondering why they're *my* threads, it's because the users here can't lock their own threads. If they could, I'd ask them to, and to create their own sequels instead of me doing it.

Yeah, moderating this board is the highlight of my day.

Or, and this is just a suggestion, we could just not lock any of the threads in the 'Hot Topics', seeing as they got the amount of posts they have already without getting locked.
Really, if you think about it, threads should only really be locked on account of the amount of replies it has if it gains like... enough posts to break 250 pages a week? I don't think the Random thread ever came across that problem.

The reason threads shouldn't get so big is because when you want to delete a bunch of posts in thread, or split them, it shows the entire thread on one page. Imagine trying to get rid of about 15 spam posts in the random thread, when it's all on one page (it doesn't work, no browser can handle it)
Read the Rules and use common sense, please.

Aggravated enough to start PMing mods about the moderation of this forum and board.

enough to write to me about it.

Oh yeah, I'll just throw your own line back at you:
You can't tell me what to do! What you gonna do about it, huh!?
