Who is anyone to declare that the BBS sucks? Granted it's always changing - as swiftly as life itself, so there are going to be high points and lulls.

Does everyone expect everyone else to be responsible for making the place fun? Come on, people.

Well, I'll jump in here to this conversation as I see that the topic of the Randome Thread/Real Conversations Start Here and the Last Persons to Respond Wins Thread are being discussed yet again in the Randome thread.

The WIN thread is in the sub-forum known as games. As with all games, as I see it, there are basically four choices for the user/poster:

1. Join in and play the game

2. Decide not to play the game

3. Merely watch the game and do not participate in the game by not making any posts in it.

3. Ignore the game and do something else when you are on the board.

Take a popular game: blackjack. You all know how to play. You get two cards; you can ask for more. You stop when you get as close to 21 as possible. If you go over 21, you lose. If you don't go over 21, the dealer picks cards. If the dealer goes over 21, you win. If the dealer is closer to 21 than you then you lose. And if you get black jack, you win 1 1/2 times.

Then what happens? You play again. After the above scenario happens and either the player or the dealer wins, you play again. And again. And again. The same in poker or any other game - when the hand plays out, there is a winner and a loser, and then you start over and play again.

In the game Last Persons To Reply Wins The Thread, Hurry, Hurry, the last poster is always the winner. Until the next poster posts, and then they are the winner. Until the next poster posts. This is a game. Some people enjoy it. It relieves stress and is fun, as is true of why some people play games in the first place. Others don't get it, and don't like it. As I stated above:

1. Join in and play the game

2. Decide not to play the game

3. Merely watch the game and do not participate in the game by not making any posts in it.

3. Ignore the game and do something else when you are on the board.

Now as to what to say in the post in the game which is the WIN thread: The rule of the game is that the last persons to reply wins. So basically you can say something, and guess what? For the moment your post is the last post, so you win.

As for posting the time of your "WIN," one of the first pages that load when you go log onto this site, somewhere it says something like (paraphrasing here) "Talk to South Park Fans From All Over The World." Well, the time stamp the BBS uses is in the user's local time (if the user set the time zone correctly in her/his board preferences). So if it is 12:00 Noon for you, and the next poster posts that it 5:00 AM for them THE NEXT DAY, they are not in the future. They are just 17 hours ahead of you. Times Zones. That's all it is. I find it interesting to learn where other posters from other parts of the world are posting from. Maybe you don't like this. That's cool. Again, the WIN thread is only a game.

One poster on the board, for example, is located somewhere in the world where he happens to be 12 hours ahead of me. So if I post at 3:00 PM, he is also posting at 3:00. But he is posting 3:00 AM the next day. I find that cool.

Remember, the WIN thread is a game. And as the WIN thread is a game, I'll repeat myself a third time about my opinion of games because i feel it is important:

1. Join in and play the game

2. Decide not to play the game

3. Merely watch the game and do not participate in the game by not making any posts in it.

3. Ignore the game and do something else when you are on the board.

It's like this thread, only instead of random convos, you can also say "Win at *time*.''

It's stupid, and it's about to beat this thread in pages. But WAY less content. Half the pages in that thread are just "I WIN!!11!11! XDXDXDD"....

You don't have to say "Win at *time*." One reason for this is that posters around the world can learn what the time zone difference is between us as we connect with South Park Fans from all over the world. And a few sentences about our day contained in the post doesn't take away from the fact that the current poster is for the moment the last persons to reply, so at that moment that poster is the winner of the game. Until the next poster, of course.

Now when any moderator or administrator may decide to end that thread for any reason, they can always make a last post, lock the thread, and then they indeed are the last persons to reply, so they are officially then the ultimate winner of that game.

But unless or until this happens, the current last poster is the winner. Until the next poster decides to post.

It's a game, people. Enjoy it, participate in it, just watch it, or ignore it. It's a game. There are many games. Like a different game? Post there and have some fun. Or create a new game and post it and we will try it out and play it.

I enjoy the game of the WIN thread and will continue to post in and play the game that is the WIN thread.

This post right now that I have just made, however is posted in the randome/conversation thread. So let's discuss this, if you want, as the WIN thread was brought up a few posts ago right here in this randome/conversation thread. I hope it will be a lively discussion :)

Why the F*ck are we having this conversation in the random thread BC. This is a really stupid post here. Who cares about the win thread to a certian extent that we have to make a big giant explanation thread. If were gonna have this conversation...it should be in the "win" thread itself :?

Gta: The BBS is not as good as it used to be. Granted though, I don't think everyone on the "win" thread is as wanting to win as much as you think. I just post random Sh*t there...because I can :)

I don't care much about winning as much as the others, but I still feel like there is a personal satisfaction with it.

GTA made a remark about it HERE so BC addressed it here.

I agree that the win thread is ridiculous, but I also agree with BC's points. In the end, it's harmless, inane fun. If you don't get it, you don't have to read it or post in it.

If this thread is random can't we just say we win by posting here :P Or is that against bbs law :timmy:

Anyway i'm mildly annoyed at myself for towing the english line and supporting gun control laws even though i'm generally opposed to ban-laws (i.e. drugs, prostitution, pornography, censorship) and i found; a new study suggesting that the use of handguns in crime in the uk rose by 40% in the two years after the weapons were banned: that there were 9,974 incidents involving firearms in the UK in the 12 months to April 2002, a rise from 35%over the previous year: Washington D.C. enacted a virtual ban on handguns in 1976. Between 1976 and 1991, Washington D.C.'s homicide rate rose 200%, while the U.S. rate rose 12%: and In the early 1990's, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms reported that 7% of armed career criminals obtain firearms from licensed gun shops :S

Looks like i should be more libertarian than i really am :S The main reason i didnt change my views here so far (i might be changing now :o) is that most of the opponents of gun laws in the usa cite a 300 year old piece of paper written in part by slave owners that doesn't apply to the UK as an infallible guide to action, and as an opponent of gun laws, or, alternatively appeal to the old testement and roman law's defences of weaponry while simultaniously ignoring their defenses of slavery. I don't wanna be that much fail! but i don't want to be a dogmatic lefty either... or to ignore the evidence put before me.

It's pointless but what's the harm in posting? As long as you don't post just to say "Win at 3:00" I'm fine with it.

Man, I want some beignets.

In other news, I've had a bizarre dream. My school transformed into a five story building and all my classmates were replaced with those "teenagers" that you see in a TV drama. There was an announcement that some wolves were on the loose and would kill us all if we didn't run around like chickens with it their heads cut off. Also, the wolves were rumored to be the size of elephants. Rumored.

So while students crammed themselves into random classrooms in hopes to avoid LOL DEATH, I snuck out of the building because I couldn't handle the terrible dialogue. I went outside and lo and behold: no wolves. Though I was a bit cautious, I wasn't making circles around the parking lot and trying to stuff myself in a mailbox. I peered in the windows of some of the classrooms that were abandoned to find that there were no wolves. I headed back into the building, confronted several entities of the same student that I know in real life, discovered that the principal was actually a bunch of 20th century Presidents that were suppose to be dead... all sleeping in their chambers, and my dad showed up to tell me that there.... were .....no .....wolves.

We were about to tell everyone the news, but everything went dark quite literally and my school's band and I were gathered in the parking lot about to board the buses for home. My dad offered to bring me home, but according to the new band policy that was pulled out of the butt of our director a few seconds later "NNNNO." The end!

There were a few subplots within the dream as well. Ronald Reagan kept dying his wife's hair blond every time they went to bed. And you thought only JFK had a thing for Monroe. In another stor--dream, our cat somehow managed to have kittens. The litter of three was given new homes but one kitten was born a day late and died. I carried the poor thing around PUBLIC in a basket until the wolf episode forced me to abandon it.

And I'm pretty dure my German Shepherd was the culprit behind the invisible wolf attacks.

As I've said before, my problem isn't with the win thread, it's with conversations getting drowned in posts say "WIN at *time*"...

I just wish there were some meat in those posts, and THEN say I won, OR have conversations here, because the win posts get in the way.

And it's annoying checking back to see if someone responded to you, only to let the page load and see "WIN at *time*"...

______________

Crazy dreams are crazy. :?

I had one last night that death was chasing me. Like Final Destination, only I was the only one.
(actually, I had it a couple times over the last week, with different things trying to kill me)

The dream involved me going to some new high school... weird because I am graduated now. But this school had the lunch/quad area under a whole bunch of freeways. One night, a helicopter crashed near us at lunch, and we all avoided the blades and what-not. The next night, a motorcycle crashed on one of the freeways, and skid off the road, right into the quad, and demolished a concrete table.

Then last night the dream continued... We were at the tables again, the one was still destroyed by the motorcycle. And at this point in my dream marathon, I noticed the death string, and I warned everyone.
(There was a TV outside with the news on, and a highspeed chase was on the freeway, and we knew it was about to come over us.)

I knew of the death marathon in previous dreams, and I was all, "Oh sh*t, I'm out of here."

The car crashed and started to roll back down, off the freeway, and into the lunch tables. At this point, I was like, "death is after me, I have to leave now."
(Apparently in the dream, the new school was out of California, because me and my brother, who was with me, stopped an old lady in a Prius ( ) and told her that death was after me, and asked to hitch a ride back to California. The death sh*t happened at this new place, and maybe it will stop if I move back to Cali.

And we went on a major adventure with the old lady, and I am tired of typing, so I'm done. :o

Yeah, that's a weird one alright. I haven't remembered any of my dreams from the past few nights. I do vaguely remember one from last week. Do you remember Marcia Warfield from Night Court? Well I dreamed that she was moving in across the street, and I went across to welcome her to the neighborhood. When I did (and realized it was her) we hugged like we were old friends who hadn't seen each other in a long time. Only thing is that in my dream she was about a foot taller than me, and reeealy pregnant, so when we hugged our stomachs got "locked together". Also because she was so pregnant, her balance was off, and we had a hard time pushing away from each other.

I had a dream where my sister chased me around the yard with a giant lollipop. Then, when I went to the house, I was told that the house was being torn down to build a bakery and we had to go to Canada. Until we got to Wisconsin and were about to cross the border, a guy told us we were cool and had to live in his house. Then he stabbed a hamster, and the news said a huge horde of hamsters were gonna kill all humans and so the dude was lynched, basically. Then a guy in a bunny suit came and slapped me in the face, and I woke up.
