Mamont wrote:Getting porn ads when streaming a cartoon made primarily for kids is somewhat disturbing. I'm talking, of course, about Adventure Time.
I know it's made for kids, but I love Adventure Time and I turned 21 last month.
I use AdBlock when streaming but that does sound a bit, well, odd.

On an entirely random/unrelated note (given the nature of this thread): Is anyone else psyched for the Neutral Milk Hotel reunion tour? I managed to score tickets to their show in Baltimore (tickets sold out in under a minute for this one) and their Thursday show in Brooklyn, NY, first of three shows they're doing at the same venue. For those who might be unfamiliar with the band, they're a relatively eclectic indie folk-rock band - I recommend their EP "Ferris Wheel on Fire" if looking for a more mellow/acoustic/folksy album, but their 2nd (and last) full-length is essential, imho. While I have eclectic tastes in music (my three favorites genres of music are rock, jazz, and metal as well as many of their subgenres but I don't dismissing any genre without hearing a band) I'm not normally one to fit in with the "hipster" crowd that an indie band like this band attracts just due to the energy and vibe of this kind of crowd seeming arrogant to me. However, something about their music really appeals to me. I think I like the trumpet playing and the vocal melodies, and the bizarre lyrics are amusing, too.
On another music-related note, I went to a show at a brand new restaurant/jazz lounge in my state last night. It just opened up last weekend but the chef knows how to cook, and though I had seen the band before, they were one of the most outstanding relatively-undiscovered (local) jazz-fusion bands I've ever heard. Their guitarist was nuts - he plays like a Larry Coryell (Spaces Revisited-era) and George Benson (Bad Benson-era) hybrid. Coryell's speed, Benson's musicality, and even some mild rock distortion and other interesting effects thrown in from time to time to liven up the music.
Also, I saw Grown Ups 2. It was pretty hilarious since I was in the mood for a cheap laugh.
Anyone else looking forward to the final episodes of Breaking Bad? What do you think will happen to Walt?
...aaaannd I'm out of random thoughts for now.

Probably all the older adults from the internet who watch Adventure Time. The advertizers target the audience. That or the ads are specific to you since this is the interweb age and they know your details.
I'm looking forward to the last season of Breaking Bad, but am not looking forward to it being over and am worried the ending will suck and ruin the earlier parts of the show for me. I don't have to worry about dexter's ending sucking, that's a given, i'll be glad to not have to watch that series out of obligation anymore

I'm 32, and I enjoy the newest incarnation of TMNT, and prons, so... There!
Re: The Randome Thread: Real Conversations Start Here!
Adventure Time is primarily made for kids, but it's widely popular amongst adults. This video explains one of the reasons for its popularity.
I'm 31 and I love cartoons. Adventure Time, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, Phineas and Ferb (older seasons), The Amazing World of Gumball, to name a few.
A building next to mine is being renovated, and it's too hot to close the windows, so dust keeps coming in. It's everywhere.
My feet stink. I washed them when I got home, but I can still smell them.
Yesterday I drove a car with automatic transmission for the first time in my life.

Re: The Randome Thread: Real Conversations Start Here!
The popularity with adults is probably why they target adult ads to it, especially if you watch online where they know you're not a kid based on your past searches. Sometimes a show originally aimed for kids moves to take advantage of an unintended adult fanbase, as seen in MLP.
I like early Nick-toons from the 90s, it's a shame that a network which started off popular because it didn't have all the rules constraining creators that other networks had, became as bloated as its competitors in just a few years. FX seems to be going the same way in the realm of adult networks, starting off open to new shows other networks wouldn't pick up but now it has established itself it is as closed as the rest.

This is more of a long tweet, but...
Just went swimming in the Gulf. I was out about chest-deep, attempting to enjoy myself as sunscreen and salt stung my eyes, when something soft brushed up against my arm. I looked into the water aaand... Jelly. I avoided getting stung, but I quickly started to head further ashore. The trick is to get in far enough where you don't bother Jellies and other fish, and out far enough that you don't have Sargassum going up your shorts.
Quick research tells me it was a Moon Jellyfish. Not the most dangerous thing in the world, but I still feel it necessary to give it some space.
BACK TO THE WATER!!!! ...after some lunch. (whateva, I do what I wawnt!)

I saw what was most likely that same jelly again when I went out the second time. There were also a bunch of fish jumping around out there too. I was only about chest deep again, and they were flying through the air all around me. I almost got fish-slapped at one point.
