S26E6: "Spring Break" discussion
President Garrison is coming back. People are waving signs of the former President (with Trumpian hair). And with Trump returning for the 2024 campaign, now's the time to stick it to Biden, as some of our members here wanted for the past two and a half years.
Ukraine is mentioned.

Re: S26E6: "Spring Break" discussion
I think I'm the only fan who's kind of excited about this one, haha.
Garrison has always been one of my favorite adult characters and while I have my opinions on the real life individual he has been blended with for the last seven seasons, I do think the contrasting moments that Garrison's unique character shine through are genuinely funny. I've always felt that an underrated and underused quality of South Park is when they allow their real life social satire to meet with and overlap with the native quirkiness of their characters, rather than the tendency for those quirks to be downplayed or disappear in service to the satire. Garrison quoting the real life presidential candidate can be funny, but Garrison admitting on a campaign stump that he scissored another woman is hilarious. Garrison talking about literally f*cking immigrants not to express indifference but as a literal threat because he does that. Garrison dismissing his presidency as another phase akin to having been a lesbian and his operation. Those moments are funny. The absurdity buried in the realism works so well.
So yeah, Garrison going to Florida to do stupid speeches and sh*t but trying to hide it from Rick is in the funny territory for me. The real life guy doesn't have to hide what he's doing from an intimate partner, but Garrison does, that's funny!
...
I do hope they use Mr. Hat here somehow. I was fine when he was dropped again after "201", but after the Vaccination Special and Post Covid, his disappearance again feels so weird!

Whew, what a relief! And what a way to wrap up a season! No President Garrison this time around. And great use of Jan 6 footage to convince Rick that Herb is serious about their relationship.

Great episode.
Though that scenario is pretty nightmarish

Re: S26E6: "Spring Break" discussion
To start out, nice to hear someone call Garrison by his first name, albeit a shortened version. Still been many years since the words "Herbert Garrison" passed out of any character's mouth.
I like the treatment of Garrison's past as a politician like an addiction he's relapsing into. Something he was able to get away from with the help of his BF. Speaks to part of what is going on psychologically with the real guy.
I don't know much of anything about Warhammer, but it seems like they put a lot of care into drawing all those pieces, so I reckon some folks on staff are super into it. They didn't even have Randy come down on top of it all, even though it really felt like they were setting up that joke. Too much respect for the game, maybe.
On to Randy being dumb. He was a pretty good foil to articulate the bad faith arguments against the hazard of toxic masculinity. The fact that Randy's behavior was over the line even for the pimp says a lot. I like the general idea that Randy is trying to "fix" a problem that doesn't exist, because that's generally the problem I have with the zealots out there who try and make hay out of whatever they portray as males being under attack for. The big lesson for Randy is that being a toxic male hurts yourself more than anyone else.
Then after all that sh*t happens, it is a satisfying joke when Sharon says, "You made it longer than last spring break." Which implies he did something nearly as nuts in a much shorter time span a year earlier.
To me, that implies the guys will go back to that arc if current events demand it next season.

Well I don't know if I'd go that far. There is a slightly ominous tone to the way Rick says, "Well, I guess we'll just have to see what happens..." at the end.

Wow this actually was a great episode, I thought. Great way to bash both sides of the main political spectrum. I love how they bashed the Republicans, who by nature are not a fan of the LGBTQ+ community, then a whole "Trump" (or "Garrison") rally chanting "I love Rick" and then rioting over it. LOL
I'm on the democrat side. Will I admit to the "Liberal Left" brainwashing people? No, only because I pay no attention to news and do my own thing, so I could care less what they say. It's crazy though that we have to have so many different genders now, instead of Male/Female/U...up to like 20 of them. Again, does it affect me personally? No, so I could care less anyways. I don't even know, nor care what most of these new gender/identity words mean.

It’s episode not my favourite because not much happened maybe I would be happy if a giant turtle came and started saying something
