Finally, an episode about Stan!

Postby RichardV1150 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 3:38 am

Well it sure did take it's sweet ass time now didn't it? Thankfully, it's here now. I just know this couldn't be a parody of too much, like M&T said, they like the episodes about the boys the most, I know this is what they've been wanting to do, but I could very well be wrong. Forget about when Stan's birthday should occur, in the South Park world everything gets mixed up, peoples last names, first names, dates, "Of course Stan wasn't born in 2001, the earth day episode says earth day 2001, meaning he wasn't even born yet, and many other things that go through the show, or any show for that matter. To get a better idea of what turning ten is like, I looked up a poem on it, which in my opinion is a little weird, but maybe that's just me. Here's the poem "The whole idea of it makes me feel
like I'm coming down with something,
something worse than any stomach ache
or the headaches I get from reading in bad light--
a kind of measles of the spirit,
a mumps of the psyche,
a disfiguring chicken pox of the soul.

You tell me it is too early to be looking back,
but that is because you have forgotten
the perfect simplicity of being one
and the beautiful complexity introduced by two.
But I can lie on my bed and remember every digit.
At four I was an Arabian wizard.
I could make myself invisible
by drinking a glass of milk a certain way.
At seven I was a soldier, at nine a prince.

But now I am mostly at the window
watching the late afternoon light.
Back then it never fell so solemnly
against the side of my tree house,
and my bicycle never leaned against the garage
as it does today,
all the dark blue speed drained out of it.

This is the beginning of sadness, I say to myself,
as I walk through the universe in my sneakers.
It is time to say good-bye to my imaginary friends,
time to turn the first big number.

It seems only yesterday I used to believe
there was nothing under my skin but light.
If you cut me I could shine.
But now when I fall upon the sidewalks of life,
I skin my knees. I bleed." I thought I should share considering it's a good poem that I found, tell me what you think of it? I think the episode will be like that episode of The Simpsons when Bart is getting older he throws out all the things that made him a kid. I can only hope that they don't churn out trash, which could be devastating, especially for Stanluv25. I'm happy, and so I hope you are too. Sorry for posting such long reply comments, I like to write.

He's being a beacon of hope watching over the city at night. As darkness descends, he alone works to protect the city from crime. He is the symbol this town needs.
South Park is a platform for Matt and Trey's social commentary and satire; there is no canon and these characters only serve as tools for self-expression. Don't get attached.

Not a problem, RichardV1150. Good poem; sounds great for this episode of what little we know so far :)

*watch, the episode will be entirely different from what we are saying now* :P

In other words, he's Mysterion.

You JUST TURNED TEN TWO SEASONS AGO.

Two EPISODES ago you said everyone is ten years old.

Stan is a birthday whore.

Ditto! Besides those two continuity flaws, this episode sounds good, I guess. StanLuv25 will indeed be happy, and so am I. It sounds like "Cartman Joins NAMBLA", but I'm sure Stan won't be in search of those "mature friends". Hope this episode is SUPER great; my birthday is on June 10th, so an episode that isn't that cool might bum me out.

I wonder if we'll see a birthday party scene and if there is one, I wonder if kids besides Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, and Butters will be at the party.

Yes, a 10th B-Day party is a big deal; not like Kyle's B-Day when then went to Casa Bonita; this is the big one-oh :)

I bet a lot of the class will be there, including the girls too. I don't think it will be a boy only party.

This leads me to another question: will the kids wear party hats over their hats or take their hats off?

While their regular hats are iconic, we have been seeing them a lot recently without hats on; so I would say party hats :)

Thanks!

I liked the poem, RichardV1150. Reminds me of how much growing up sucks... I'm a bit sad now, though... Definitely feels related to Stan's conflict.
