I had a similar childhood experience in which me and friends got drunk very young just one time. ( it was halarious because we were all good kids and we wernt drunk we just wanted to pretend basically) I can remember telling friends how I loved them and wanted to move away with them! Gawd my dad beat me so hard that night. I guess what am looking at here is that me being still a tad younger (just guessing) than everyon here. I can remember 4th grade. I remember antics. Talking dirty. Finding out what...well.....uhh....*cough Porn *cough was. This is why I love south park the little things that help me feel happy inside again.

You speak for me, WWWDWOSP. ;-) I was 14 when I got hammered for the first time, and my mom was sooo disgusted with me LOL. At least I didn't get beat (that time.)
But about this episode...yeah. Hm. The one before was strange (although I LOVED the 'Landslide' montage, and I REALLY loved that they brought it back for this episode) and I laughed at this one, thought "Wow, they're going to get really weird, how cool!" with the Matrix / Prez Duck / BLAAAAAARRRRRRTTTT! (that's a fart sound in text) twists...but it never quite got there. My fave part was Mackie telling Stan he's "Debbie Downer." ROFL!! But these 2 episodes are not as compelling as, say, the episode where the boys buy Asian weapons at the fair and almost put Butters' eye out. That said...this IS Season 15 and the guys (M&T) have had a LOT on their plates, what with 'The Mormons' on Broadway and all...I pray that the guys are soooo busy with a sequel to 'Team America' that they are letting the TV show slip a bit. AMERICA!! f*ck YAH!!! Wouldn't THAT be SWEET!!!

Ok all you deep South Park fans, I hear you all saying that the true fans want character development and that M&T pussied out. But I think you guys need to take another look. Character development is great but you guys seem to want all this change. I've watched the show for years and I'm as big a fan as anyone, but I can honestly say I wouldn't want things to change THAT much. South Park isn't South Park without the four boys together. They tried to change it back in season 6 by replacing Kenny...we all know how that ended. Stan leaving the group would literately pull apart some of the essence of the show, especially because he's pretty much based off one of the creators. I'm not disagreeing with change, just not to the extent that changes the show to something almost completely different then what we've loved for years. Burn me as you wish, but I don't agree that they 'pussied out.' I would bet that they know THEIR characters and THEIR show well enough to know what is best and what works the best. No offense but if you guys are true South Park fans then you should love the show for what it is, fart jokes and ripping on whatever is currently being talked about in the media, and not for what it could be if they change it. They don't change it because it works. They have an awesome fan base that loves it the way it is, and they write what they wanna write for themselves. If they wanted to change it that bad they would, we all know they have the balls to do it. To all you guys who think the show has gone to sh*t, maybe you should sit down with some Jagermeister, plan your attach on the aliens, or mutated humans (whatever), and watch a different show. Appreciate what you've got folks.

Ok so rereading my text I should have worded it better. South park is still the best show in the world right now...hands down.

I feel they are getting bored with SP (no matter what they say) so naturally you change the show. By god don't take away Stan or anything that major just do SOMETHING that does reset the next week

I was just upset that they resolved it all in one siting. And that it seemed that they are afraid to do anything. South park rules all. Im just a deep thinking person. (trust me I hate it)

Well, this was an interesting way to reset the universe of South Park, but I find myself wishing they'd taken their time with it more.
Poor Stan, talking about how nothing made him happy. I've been in that place. Didn't drink to deal with it, but I've known plenty of people who have.

The Marshes have now gotten divorced twice, and then gotten back together without really discussing their problems. I understand that it's not a realistic show, but that bothers me. It shouldn't have been that quick and neat. Should have taken the rest of the run, if they even got back together at all. (...which they shouldn't have. Having parents who don't get along is not "better for the kids." I speak from experience.)

Matrix references cracked me up. So did "rock creatures" for some reason. And all the, "oh, right, like a friend would just abandon another friend for X reason"

Not anytime soon.

Right. Or tomorrow.

Yeah the last shot of him taking a shot of whiskey was odd, but it seems that South Park has been reset once again... I have faith in M&T they are fantastic and make me laugh week after week.

I think Stan still hears sh*t and the viewer does not. The look on his face give hint of this. The shot of whisky is to return him to the 'illusionary' world, aka helps him deal with reality.

I thought this was a great opener to the second half of the 15th season, I'd probably rate it around an 8.5/10. Trey and Matt never cease to amaze me!

As for my thoughts regarding the future South Park, I highly doubt they'll continue with the plot from this episode...although they might make some slight references here and there, but it seems like South Park will stay the same as always for the most part with a new and different plot each episode.

One of the wonderful things about resets, or retcons, is that you sometimes get to ask the same question again, in a different form, and get a different answer. In Season 3 you have Kenny's girlfriend Kelly asking "Who killed Kenny?"
"They did."
"Who's 'They'?"
"You know, 'they.'"
"They're… they're bastards"

In this episode, you have Stan wondering who "they" are too (in this case, keeping us in a blissful state of ignorance):
"Aliens?"
"Aliens, or robots from the future, or genetically engineered humans, whatever, f*ck you!"

the most introspective episode ever

Postby s_c_otsman » Fri Oct 07, 2011 5:42 am

"Ass Burgers" is the first episode I've ever seen that put a character (in this case, Stan Marsh) DIRECTLY into my shoes. I've shared various opinions with many episodes, but this one hit the bull's-eye. Since viewing it, I've told all my friends, "If you want to learn something about me, watch this episode." I can't put my appreciation into justifiable words. All I can really say is thank you.

After having seen this a second time I must say it was funnier than it was the first! I loved the commercial for Terra Nova. 'It's Lost and Jurassic Park in one show!' 'Dinosaurs!' OMG! Or something like that lol.

Then for the sake of me I crack up so much when Mackey talks to Stan. 'Snap out of it Debbie.' LMAO!!! That has to be the funniest line for some reason.

And drunk Stan... as much as I don't like seeing children drink my god is he hilarious! seeing him wobbly and unsteady on his feet. His eyes squinting and speech slurred. He was so happy and those scenes were adorable for such wrong reasons.

His face when he woke at the meeting taking place with the fast food chains. *sniff sniff* Encharido? LOL

Then the black guy calling 'them' a diff name each time. Aliens. Robots. Rock creatures. Whatever, f*ck you! HAHA

I know there were more funny points but when I saw it again today I was surprised at how much funnier it seemed to be, aside from Stan being so sad in the beginning. I think I'm going to love this episode more and more the more I see it! :D So for now it is a 9/10 and might be the best of s. 15 so far. ;) I don't know. YGO might still be that though... hm.
I love: Stan, Butters, Cartman, Sharon.

I ship: Stan/Cartman <3

Stan: MMOOMM!!
Sharon: What is it honey? (gasp!) My baby's killed again!
Haa, I love that line.
