We've been waiting all year for this. I thought the show would return next week, on the 23rd, but no, it was pushed back a week. If you've been following SP on social media, you'll recognize the graphics, and realize that the crew has been working on this episode for a while. At least since August 14th, right after the anniversary. And so I present

S24E01: "The Pandemic Special"

This is a 1-hour episode airing at 8 pm on September 30th.

Randy comes to terms with his role in the COVID-19 outbreak as the on-going pandemic presents continued challenges to the citizens of South Park. The kids happily head back to school but nothing resembles the normal that they once knew; not their teachers, not their homeroom, not even Eric Cartman.

I don't know if this will count as two or three episodes, or just one long one, but I'm looking forward to it!

This episode will air three times back to back, from 8 pm to 11 pm (7 - 10 Central).

I thought South Park was over and I could escape it, I was wrong.

I need this 1 hour special and I need a new season of South Park.

If Randy caused COVID-19 there may be a flashback to when he was in China selling dope.

I wonder who the characters are freaked out about the disease? We see Kyle afraid to be near Cartman without a mask as one of them.

I guess for all the stereotypical people in our Post COVID World, that their personality will be an update for every South Park character we know.

No, they couldn't fit it all in in one hour. COVID-19, quack treatments, the pandemic recession, police brutality and BLM, the protests, anti-maskers vs maskers, QAnon and its obsession with child trafficking, wildfires in the West (including Colorado), the requisite election episode. Plenty of material to spread over 10 episodes.

I had a strong feeling we'd get a healthy dose of Randy at the top of this season, since he's the perfect foil for much of the craziness that's gone on this year. If you need a character to overreact to something, Randy's your guy. And there he his, continuing his pot farm arc into the pandemic.

I see hints of Kyle becoming a germaphobe in the preview. And was that Fatass glad to be at school? Interesting.

There's a debate tomorrow night if they want to really kill themselves trying to cram in something extremely current before air.
I suppose they'll save that for the election.

There is almost too much material to use as a jumping off point on the current events front. We're gonna be craving a simpler episode later this season that ignores the plague and the election and the social unrest. But for now, let's see what's on your mind, Trey. Hit us with both barrels.
