I miss Pip, he was way better than Butters. I wish they brought him back.

I'm an old fogey... Back in the 90's they made us read lots of Dickens. I even remember having to do a group presentation on Tale of Two Cities. Don't get it wrong, I love to read, my major in college was EngLit, but Dickens is sometimes insufferably boring.

I mean, I understood his general outlook--if those in power behaved nicely, then everything would be nice--but his premises were sometimes... How do I put this accurately? LAME. Especially in Great Expectations. So, for me, this episode was a real treat.

Read the book, or watch the gay ass movie with Robert DeNiro, Gwenyth Paltrow and Ethan Hawke (himself a novelist), and you'll see what I mean.

Actually, we read A Tale of Two Cities in my year 9 English class, plus we read Great Expectations in my first-year English class at Uni, and I remember we watched snippets of the Ethan Hawke movie. Similar, yes, but not that good lol. And I dunno, Pip was kind of a little bastard in the book, especially when he was brought into his wealth. Dickens had quite a few negative views on the wealthy. XD

I'd say you definitely need to read the book in order to appreciate the episode.

In the book, Pip basically bitch slaps the hand that fed him when he grew up (joe) because he wasn't 'sophisticated' enough.
As in the show, they reconciled in the end. No monky brawls tho :p

I always think Haversham has a better motivation in the episode than in the book :p

i really miss pip. he was one of the best characters on the show.

im going to guess that what happened was they got tired of writing jokes for him since it did get put into a mold about what they could and couldnt do with him. i think butters replaced him as the character to treat like sh*t. and butters character is alot less restrained in what he can be or do than pip.
but i wish pip would show up again soon. its been years since he has even been seen . Its time to have him in an episode again, im sure they can come up with a story line that can use his character properly.

plus the pip episode of great expectations in my favorite south park episode. never gets old.

That's what happens when you make an episode out of a 'timeless classic' :p

I've never cared much for Pip tbh, but I miss the britishness he brought to SP.

I really wish there were a better british character though, or that Pip would come back and be more interesting than before.

Wasn't Pip the main character into Charles Dickens' book, I'm talking about Marile Sperante. (I don't know what's the title in English)
Sometimes, I feel sorry for him, especially in episode Damien, when the boys started spitting in his mouth.
Also, he had some great episodes. The one with dodgeball, although he looked week, he had the strongest arms in the team. He is my second favourite character, just before Kenny.

I liked Pip. He was an okay character. But I hated the way British people were stereotyped through him.

I'm English, and I don't sound a thing like he does. But I guess that's the funny part, everything about him is exaggerated and it's pretty cool, the way they did it.

But I just want to make one thing clear. People from England do not speak/dress/look anything like Pip.

I read the book "Grand Expectations", and two days later I saw on TV episode of South Park with Pip in it. I was so delighted, because Pip's character (from the book) really grew close to my heart...

I think episodes 1302 and 1303 confirm we'll never see Pip in a new episode ever again. He's been entirely phased out. It started with Butters (the wimpy kid the boys picked on) and ended with Jason (the most silent and unnecessary extra character in the boy's larger circle of friends.)

So long, Pip, you helped get the show off the ground and for that you'll always be remembered.
