Exactly. They don't know. They don't know that they're doing is supposedly wrong, because 1.) it is not explained to them why they are there and 2.) it would've been ingrained into their self-conscious, so they would've just known through their own conditioning.

Anyway, in the commercial for this episode before it airs, we see Cartman crying (as seen on the top left poster in the South Park Studios and South Park Scriptorium), but in the episode itself, however, Cartman does not cry. Take a look at this:
