butters is a good replacement but kenny is and always was the original character

Agreed. I think Butters is a very good character with plenty of development and a very good heart, I love him. But Kenny is Kenny.

There is no good substitute. I like Butters, but he couldn't replace Kenny.

Kenny is the kid who does nothing. He is just a filler character. Butters and Tweek are very good characters who are simply too "big" to just be the filler kid in the group. Thats why Butters is better as a sub-main character. A main character who is outside of the main four.

I voted for Kenny, because when he actually does things, they're funny. But it's like, he almost never does anything. Barely any lines. Not even there a lot of the time... I like Kenny, I wish they would think up something for him to do for him.

And Tweek's pretty cool too.
