Goodbye, cruel world...
I'm leaving you today
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye...
Goodbye, all you people
There's nothing you can say
To make me change my mind...
Goodbye...

If you can find enough 'history' in the USA that's a varified fact and not mythical fiction to keep the lesson going, then yea, why not? It isn't like us foreigners arn't self-obsessed a-holes in the history department, we just get to play around with stuff that's so far back no-one'd ever be able to say we were making it all up

You give equal time for your own nation's 200 years of history and the rest of the world's six millenia pluss? OK, now I finally see why so many Americans *misinterprit* the rest of the world.

supprisingly, the brainwashing you endure in 'America f*cks the world' class even mannaged to indoctrinate Michael Moore into saying he 'lurves America' every other scentence. It's not like anyone in Britain doesn't despise our country, and that's a good thing, because needless patriotism's a problem for the whole world, defering attention from real social problems onto the immaginary vice of 'unpatriotic'.

All those rich enough to buy computers and type on this message board, maybee. But not everyone in America's as lucky as you. Few people in Britain are as lucky as me, but America does have by far the largest wealth divide in the developed world, on top of an almost unparalelled lack of social compassion.
Of course, i'm only getting this from people I know that went there, and my own holiday expierience, but everyone i've known says LA's worse than central Africa (thanks to the money being aailable to help the starving and not being used) and America's homeless problem appals them more than anything (these are super-right wing British National/Nazi Party members I'm talking about here, not bleeding hearts in the slightest!).

You already seem to know that your media's almost manages to make the BBC and Sky news look unbiased, so i won't press the point. But it's not the importance of the news that worries me in America, it's the ego-centrism. You ONLY report on a foriegn story if it has American implications, which you spend HOURS discussing, instead of just streight biased reporting you get over here. I'm speaking directly of Fox, but CNN's just as bad (ABC's suprisingly good sometimes). Fox's discussion news is the most xenophobic thing since Mel Gibson, the black-hole mouthed whore (which one? exactly!) managing to dish a mortal insult my 'Frenchy' race at least once an hour.
REMOVE THE BACHALORIET DIPLOMA SYSTEM FROM YOUR HIGHSCHOOLS!!! Subject specific grades work, everything else spreads the mind way too thin and gives an employer no indication of your skills, as well as generalising how 'good' you as a person are, instead of showing where you're good and where you're bad like our GCSE system. Less advertising space in schools would do the trick too...

I'm Anti-Nationalist. Name a country. Any country. I think nationalistic sentiments from any country are meaningless before the ultimate unification of all mankind.

Well, ain't that whats important to any country more that anything els? What effects you? I see where your coming from, but so much goes on in the world, and we are in a war that most of us don't want to be in, and the top priority SHOULD be what effects us. But, yeah, I know what you mean.

Anti-septic? No, I'm not.
(It's Cockney Rhyming slang, look it up.)
And in response to forumpowerkeeper, I'm a British person and I live in England. I can safely say that about 90% the people who live around me, who I socialise with and who I am related to are British too, and I have never heard any one of them say, "I hate America". Or in fact, express any dislike for the colonies. So for you, who's profile I have looked at and see no evidence of where you're from, to say everyone in England hates America, is wrong and anti-Anglo.
And why would you say just England? Why not Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland? You say you live in England, but most people who do live these tend to call it the UK or Britain, not just England.

I'm not from the U.K., but I agree, because most the people on TV that I see that are from the U.K. can be from any one of those places in the U.K., not just england, so they say "I'm from the U.K.". Much like me, being from California, I would say, "I'm from the U.S.". And I would only say I am from California, if I was being specific to the point of "How is the weather there?".

heritage is a waste which only divides people and leads to supremacist ideas
Re: Are you anti-American?
I don't think that the majority of people h8 American people such as your self but they do h8 your government and their imperialistic ways. U have been military involved with over 10 countries over the past 10 years. I bet u don't even know that and all under the false pretense of bringing piece and justice. I don't generalize and say that Americans are stupid but they are really uninformed abut the world around them, the educational system is probably to blame.

Re: Are you anti-American?
Some people in this topic claim to not be Anti-American but are in terms of biased, uninformed remarks that clearly reflect a lack of both respect and knowledge about America. You know who you are and, until you can show that your opinions aren't formed from random guessing and sniping, they will be ignored.
Piroman said we were in ten countires in the past ten years. If we stretch it back to 1990, here are those that I remember:
Iraq- Once with the UN and once without.
Somalia- With the UN, sorry to burst your bubble.
Liberia- Yeah, evacuating British, French and American peoples...EVIL!
Kosovo-Yet again, UN sent Peacekeepers afterwards and NATO were there as well.
Bosnia- See NATO.
Yugoslavia- See NATO.
Macedonia- See NATO.
Afghanistan- Yeah, certainly imperialism was foremost on our minds.
Haiti- Once to oust a military junta, and another time in order to secure the country ahead of elections. Don't even try to say you believe Aristide's story, as some of his own security agents said he agreed to leave willingly and was escorted to CAF for his own safety. Oh, and the government that the United States accepts was also accepted by France and Canada, so I suppose that they wish to help America in her Imperialist ways!
But, those are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head. And I've been up all night. So, feel free to add any instances where Americans suddenly showed up one day to a peaceful country and started blowing crap up while yelling, "Peace and freedom for all!"

You missed:
Panama (or was that '89?)
Colombia (anti-drug policies put troops in country.)
East Timor (part of UN peacekeeping mission)
Sudan (Clinton's '98 airstrikes)

Panama was the 80s, American military involvement in Columbia dates back to as early as the early 80s so I didn't include that, and East Timor, since it is part of a UN Peacekeeping force, wasn't what I believed this guy was talking about. As for Sudan, that was the one I forgot about.
But have you noticed that the vast majority of these conflicts involved the UN and NATO? So if he's gonna say we're the imperialists, then he better say every single nation in NATO and the UN are imperialists. The difference is that the United States usually provides the bulk of the offensive firepower during the campaigns, so people like him don't see past that.
PS- Panama was late '89. Even then, I wonder what the ten countries in ten years are, as we had to go back this far.
