The not necessarily scientific "Did you know?" thread

Postby SouthParks#1Fan » Wed Dec 03, 2008 9:59 am

Here you post all your "did you know" facts. Such as a grape explodes when you put it in a microwave. Things like that. Or you can post things from the guinees book of records to amaze other people.

When you microwave a marshmallow, it can swell up to 5 times it's normal size. But it quickly deflates once the microwaves stop hitting it. :/

Travis Fessler of Florence, Kentucky broke the world record of putting the most Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches in his mouth by stuffing 11 roaches into his mouth at one time.

In continental Europe, low alcohol beers are most often produced by using a special kind of yeast that cannot convert the most common suggar in malt into alcohol and as such cannot produce much alcohol. By contrast, most low alcohol drinks produced in America and the UK are made by raising the temperature of fermentation to a level high enough to destroy the enzymes responsible for converting the malt hops into alcohol.Thees beers taste sweet because the malt sugger is not converted into alcohol and thus remains disolved in the drink when it is sold.

All commercially available non-alcoholic beers are produced by distiation; the beer is heated to a temperature high enough to boil the alcohol but not high enough to boil the water or the majority of flavour producing ester compounds also produced during fermentation.

Because the flavour of beer is altered when the alcohol is removed, compounds must be re-added to the beer to make it taste 'normal' after the alcohol is remove.

DID YOU KNOW THAT?

The people at the E! Network were once big enough assf*cks to want to do a show recreating Dimebag Darrell's murder "for the entertainment value". WTF!!! Do they know how many people are still mentally scarred and or get sad and angry when they are reminded of what happened!!! What were they thinking!!! To this day, the only thing that makes me genuinely sad is remembering what happened December 8th 2004... :( I am glad they stopped and that they realized how f*ckin stupid their idea was, "For the entertainment value" What the f**ck does that mean!!! There is nothing entertaining about one of the greatest men who ever lived dying!!!
