^ Nice. Sure kicks the sh*t outta my crappy list.

Okay, here's a cool comparison between metal and mainstream emo (by the way, I'm not saying LoG is true metal, but close enough)

my band is doing this song

Crystal Mountain - Death http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jo1rHJaJwY

I will be doing lead guitar and vocals!!! I tried death growling today, and i sound allot like the lead singer!!! Which makes me really happy because he is on of my favorites!

Has anyone mentioned Opeth? They're quickly becoming a favorite of mine. They perfectly mix progressive music with death/black metal; they're not fast or super heavy, but I just think the music itself is f*cking incredible; these guys toured with Dream Theater on their last Progressive Nation tour. They're able to combine blunt force with unique melodic compositions; how many can you say have that kind of ability? Any before you start naming names, listen to the music first:

Here are some songs, if you've got ten minutes for each song:

I've done lead guitar and vocals on this song before... pretty hard to go from a death growl to actual singing, I think. That plus playing for ten minutes:

(I also love how Mikael plays an PRS like me...)

I played in a thrash metal band before we split about a year ago; i played lead guitar and backing vocals, but when a song called for a death growl or scream, I was there. I still remember playing at my junior prep rally at high school, and we caused a moshpit, no joke! We were never allowed to play again...

Dude, Dream Theater f*cking p3wns! John Petrucci is GOD! And yeah, DT do have some pretty long, epic songs: Octavarium lasts for about 25 minutes! And doesn't SDOIT have seven parts anyway?

What do you think 2008's best album release was? I'm going to go with Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thunder God and in second Six Feet Under's Death Rituals.
