"Life isn't fair, kid. Get used to it."
I was a well-behaved kid. I knew better than to act the way that kid did. But the worst thing I recall happening to someone who misbehaved was his getting his diploma after the ceremony or in the mail. The kid might not consider his behavior showboating, but he's not the one running the ceremony.

I don't know if blowing a kiss to the mother who helped you through high school is misbehaving. There are kids who are skipping school, mouthing off to their parents...shooting and killing their parents for taking away their copy of Halo 3...and this kid is punished for acknowledging his mother respectfully? There was mention in the story of kids with beach balls. My own opinion is that (as common as it is..kids to it here) is a lot worse than showing appreciation for your mother. They all got their diplomas. Was what this kid did worse?

There's more than enough time after the ceremony to blow kisses to your mother.
At best, it was a respectful distraction, but a distraction nonetheless, and ceremonies don't take too kindly to distractions.

Yeah, that's a bit much. Although there was a kid in my graduating class that I wish that had happened to. When his name was called, he was doing that cheezy finger shoot-point thing at everyone going down the aisle, and waving to everyone in the graduating class (as if he was the infamous being ever to walk the halls of MacArthur HS) and purposely tripped over the stairs leading up to stage on his way up. And it was a totally fake/hammy fall too. I mean if he was going to do it, he should've done it right and fallen flat on his face.
He was in one of my classes too, and... Jesus, he was such a tool that I wanted to bitch-slap hard enough to make him sterile. ...Ok, I'm venting and rambling now. I need to just plain stop right there, because the more I write about it the madder I'm get over it.

Living in Maine myself, it didn't take long at all for me to hear about this and it is f*cking bullsh*t! Granted, there may have been a better place and time for it, but still, that is NO reason for him to be denied his diploma. That superintendent deserves to be tarred and feathered for pulling off that sort of bullsh*t.
Re: Did you ever read something that just pissed you off?
I agree, that is messed up. High school graduation only happens once in a person's lifetime, and the superintendent, apparently the only one with a problem with the gesture, had to spoil it.
What a shame.
What a shame.

Well it didn't piss me off, but I felt it was a little extreme that they took his diploma away..Yes, they want the kids to show manners at graduation, but they are just kids.

Well, one thing's for sure, no one around here is turning a blind eye to it. That same school district has asked the superintendent to step down, but currently that's up in the air, considering she has a contract, and firing her now could cost the district an assload of money. I say it'd be worth it to get rid of a stupid bitch like that.

I didn't go to my graduation.
I still have to go and pick it up or request that it be mailed.

Awww, why didn't you go to your graduation?

Re: Did you ever read something that just pissed you off?
My parents are so embarrassing that I didn't want to bring them with me.
I went to an alternative school, it was small. Only 3 graduated from my school, and like 15 from the other alt. schools. (Combined graduation)
So it wasn't a big deal anyway.

Well, at least the kid is put away from society for the rest of his life, but he will learn from his mistakes and crimes and ask God for forgiveness.
Still the same as it ever was.
