I'm Animating a South Park Movie...Need Advice

Postby psychicpebble » Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:19 pm

Hey guys. I'm animating a South Park animation on Adobe Flash CS4 with an amazing voice actor. I only have the mouths done so far, and will be animating the pupils and such later.

So far I've tried to summarize everyone's thoughts-especially that of Matt and Trey-into a short little South Parky speech, featuring Stan.

My question is a few things. First of all, what should I do next? Where should I go from here? I think since I can do a very good Butters impression and can do an adult, it would go like this:

(Stan gives his speech)

Mohammed : I couldn't of said it better myself, Stan.

Butters:Yeah, and best of all no one important got hurt!

(Gives memorial to Tom Cruise)

What do you think? That's where I was going to take it. Should I show Mohammed uncensored? By the way I did not do the Stan impression, it was from someone on Youtube who wants to remain nameless due to hate mail from extremists.

So what do you think?

WOW that's a good Stan impression! This is awesome, and says all the right things. Great job man!

Thanks. The speech is a little off because I tried to condense all of my thoughts into 50 seconds.

So what do you think I should do from here as far as plot wise?

Good job, but is this going to just be a video with the characters standing there, speaking and nothing else, or is there going to be a plot, with more things happening? It's hard to tell you what to do next without knowing.

No, I'm working on other projects so I don't really want to make this biger than it has to be. This was my response to how Comedy Central treated last weeks episode.

I posted above what I thought I should do next.

I would show Mohammed agreeing and have Butters say something and then a joke memorial for Tom Cruise.

What do you think?

I'd suggest writing out what you want to happen and see how it works on paper before doing anything else. If something doesn't flow well on paper, change it until it does. Once you're satisfied with how it "feels" to you, you can work on animating it.

No I know that, thank you.

I mean SHOULD I do that? I don't know if showing Mohammed would put my life in danger, but if I didn't want to show him for that reason it would make me a hypocrite.

I'm just wondering what you guys would like to see.

Also thanks for all the feedback so far.

Whether you show Muhammad or not is up to you. Just ask yourself why you're making the video and you'll have your answer.

Thanks. I know what I'm trying to say in the video and mean it as much as I should, I just don't want people trying to kill me.

Although I probably won't get anything death threats, I don't want to take the chance. Nobody imprint will probably see this anyways so I'll probably just take the chance.

The real point of this video was to say what Matt and Trey couldn't say on the air-I'm not necessarily speaking for them-just saying and doing what they hopefully wanted to.

As long as you don't associate any of that video if your real-life self, you should be fine (like post your location etc). Even then I doubt much would happen.

Thanks, I've decided that I will show Mohammed regardless.

Also for anyone interested, I'm just about done with Stan talking.
(Just need to make his head move up and down)
And then I'm doing Mohammed and Butters and finishing this.

Here it is so far:

Great job. And show mohammed. ;)

And if you are worried about crazy ass radicals, get your Conceal and Carry permit, not saying I have mine, and not saying i dont, guess an attacker will find out if they try anything...

That's really good, you do a good Stan impersonation :P

Where did you get the mouths from? (Did you make them yourself)... I wish I could do a Stan impersonation :P
