Well, there's always the Big Gay Animal Sanctuary -- remember, Stan was the first South Park kid ever to visit it, so maybe Big Gay Al bequeathed the property to him after retiring from the Gay Animal Sanctuary business. (Kinda like Willy Wonka and Charlie Bucket.)

Re: *1410: Insheeption* Pre-Air Discussion
Meanwhile, I'm curious about this ep because I have an older friend with very clear hoarder tendencies -- although things haven't gotten to the "boxes of jarred urine stacked to the ceiling" phase yet.
And in my friend's case, it's easy to point to obvious factors that might explain the hoarding habits: grew up fairly poor (and surrounded by even poorer people) in Appalachia; his mom is old enough to remember being a little girl during the Depression and getting spanked for throwing away a bread crust; and maybe the clincher -- when my friend was around 35, he spent almost a month in a coma after a car accident.
So the family background plus the psychological shock of realizing that he'd lost four weeks of his life could explain a lot about the total inability to throw away yellowing old newspapers.

It's 1974 there. Watch the preview clip and you'll see it. "Fall rally 1974."
My guess about "insheeption" is that it actually has nothing to do with what's going on in the episode, just like "inception" had nothing to do with the "events" of the movie. But it probably has something to do with the stupid counting sheep technique of getting asleep. So I think we can leave animal hoarding, Big Gay Al, and PETA alone.

Aha, excellent guess!
And thanks for mentioning the 1974 sign from the preview clip. That puts it before the economic problems under the Carter administration, of course, but after the start of the "Oil Crisis" in 1973.
(I'm still thinking about the possibility that Mackie's hoarding is tied to memories of his family having serious financial difficulties when he was young -- but of course I might be miles off base.)

Last year they spoofed Whale Wars. This season, parodies of "Intervention" and now "Hoarding".
They should make fun of "Swamp People" on the History Channel!!
