Obama's average. People tend to focus on the very famous presidents, so they are the standard that's been set.
As long as they can keep the country running smoothly they have done their job.
^ And yes.

Zazaban: The worst presidents: James Buchanan, Franklin Pierce (eek, from NH), Warren G. Harding.
Unless you are corrupt, drunk or are responsible for being a revolution/civil war...you won't make this list!

Zazaban, I agree, that woman who doesn't want church and state seperate, sounds like a real pussycat. Regardless of what the consitution actually says. There isn't just one religion in this country. If the government favors one religion over others, it is unfair, and maybe time for a revolution.
This thread is a bit dramatic. Really, all you can do is go out and vote for the canidates and issues you are in favor of. You persaude others to vote the same as you, but in the end, they have to choose whether or not to listen to you.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
This necessarily requires the separation of church and state. Any activity by a government based solely on religion is effectively an endorsement or 'establishment' of that religion and therefore unconstitutional. Mandatory prayer in public schools, In God We Trust on money, Sharia law, a nativity at a government building; it's all unconstitutional.
It also makes banning gay marriage unconstitutional because that's imposing one religion's morals on the entire population. I mean that's really all that passes for a substantive argument against it.
This of course doesn't mean those working in government have to be publicly agnostic. We're talking about the passing of laws and governemnt activities here. The President of the United States saying "God Bless America" is perfectly fine. Some Senator shooting off his mouth on a cable yak show is no problem. But the minute they try and legislate something like a gay marriage ban which is based 100% on a religious rationale, we've got a problem.

Re: Liberal Doom Bunker: Code Red
Why does this always devolve into a debate about church and state?
Murray won, f*ck what others say at this time. Dicks won, thank God.
I also think many people are panicking too much. Divided Government, even if it has loons now, is much better than a one-party government. Those lunatics who were elected? They now have to keep those promises. How are they going to do that? Compromise. They can't kill Healthcare, they don't have the votes in the Senate. They can't push through anything because the Senate can stop them. In order to get what they want, they will have to give the Democrats some things they want.
It isn't perfect, but before, the Republicans could fight to stall everything they wanted to and focus on mucking things up to make the Dems look bad in the eyes of Joe and Jane. Now that they have more power, they have just as much to lose as the Dems.
Some things Democrats want will happen, with provisions. Some things Republicants want will happen, with provisions. More things will get done period because now everybody has something to lose, while before the Republicans largely had nothing to lose.

Some people are addicted to Crack, some some are addicted to porn and/or sex, and we have the BBS. I have all of the above. Pray for me. Hard.

LOL..You still remember what I said 2 months ago. And no, I think a lot of people agree with some of the stuff I say about certain people beating dead horses..Just maybe, only myself and Shane have the balls to say it in front of everyone...LOL

Re: Liberal Doom Bunker: Code Red
Well even if we talk about church and state too much, this time it was very relevant.

Hey, I commented on the last episode..Maybe you didn't notice it because of the people bitching about how the show's gone down hill..

Re: Liberal Doom Bunker: Code Red
And once in the previous two episodes too, I see, which is surprising, but yeah, with all the other comments in there, I usually look for the ones I need to approve. Even so, you're much more active here than in the episode threads.
