You and I must have been listening to different commentaries. I heard the commentary when they said, basically: "We had this idea, and we didn't know how to fit it in, so we thought of cheering someone up who had been dumped, so we had Wendy break up with Stan. And oh, the goth kids came out of this and isn't that cool, and here's the scene where we got away with having Jimmy say 'c*nt' over and over and how funny is this, and all this music in the episode is so not what an eight year old modern boy would be listening to, it shows our age." Where in there were they proud of the relationship ending? They touched more on how nice it was to bring them back together in the commentary for The List.
I also recall a commentary when they mention how the whole relationship thing has faded into the background because that's how it happens when kids are that age. That's pretty much true. I remember being in grade school and how kids would say they were boyfriend and girlfriend just kind of for the heck of it, and that they were broken up kind of for the heck of it. It happened all the time. Sometimes it was a little bit emotional, but more often it was like playing house. Stan and Wendy seem to have that little bit of emotion to it, but of course it's not going to be as important to them as it would be to people who have gone through puberty.
All that being said, it's an interesting idea to have an episode where grade schoolers go on a 'date.' I also remember that happening all the time, and it was so not like dating in high school or college. It was more like convincing your parents to give you rides and buy both of you dinner or tickets to a movie. At most there might be hand holding and an awkward attempt at kissing goodnight. It was pretty funny. I'm kind of surprised they haven't done that concept yet, actually.

To believe in something just because you're afraid of the consequences if you don't believe in something is no reason to believe in something.
Re: Stan and Wendy in season 15..
^ Well I swear they said something along the lines of:
"And Stan and Wendy break up and I think they're still apart to this day."
"Yep!"
The latter being in a proud manner.
Regardless, as much as I like the ship, I just hope it never, ever comes up again. And so far that's how it's been. Let's hope it stays that way.

South Park is a platform for Matt and Trey's social commentary and satire; there is no canon and these characters only serve as tools for self-expression. Don't get attached.

Well, here's what I hear on my commentary:
"So this is the episode where Wendy breaks up with Stan and they've been broken up ever since."
"Right." (didn't sound proud to me so much as being confirmation.)
Except they got back together in the season 11 finale, and here is what they said about it in the commentary:
"...this nice collision between the boys' world and the girls' world and that being the force that sort of brought Stan and Wendy back together, and that's when we knew we had a whole episode worth of stuff."
As to not coming up again, their little relationship was mentioned in season 12's Breast Cancer Show Ever when the goth kids talked to Stan about the fight and how he shouldn't let his girlfriend get beat up.

I'm actually curious how that would turn out, I can clearly see Kenny trying to come onto Wendy.

I remembered the mention in "The List"... but I don't believe I remember for BCSE. But I'll take your word for it, you were correct about the last two.
I just hope the relationship isn't referenced so the five people who like Stendy can keep using it, and the other million people who don't like it don't have to deal with it. Fair compromise I think.
I like to think Kenny, perverted as he is, would spare one of his best friends' girlfriends, as much as I would love to see some Kenny/Wendy interaction.

I think it's a nice little innocent relationship. I don't support, but I do think it's nice. If they for any reason break up again, I think that Stan should go and get a new girlfriend. Even if it means Wendy getting jealous (although she too will be dating someone else).
To be honest, I don't think they should tamper with it. I think it should just stay the way it is.

Re: Stan and Wendy in season 15..
My friend Brandon thinks they should do an episode in which Wendy dies from a fatal injury and Stan becomes a thousand times more depressed than when they simply broke up. Then when he gets over it, goes out to find a new girlfriend. Either that or he thinks it could be the other way around. In which Stan dies, Wendy gets depressed, and then she goes to find a new boyfriend. He thinks that’s a proper way to end their relationship. Personally, I think it was kind of dark, since they’re just kids. But then again in most fiction, that’s a proper way to end a relationship. However, the couples are usually adults.
Brandon thinks they should do the pairings the same as in the episode Follow That Egg!
Stan and Bebe being together or Wendy and Kyle for whichever way it goes.

Re: Stan and Wendy in season 15..
I love when people get all worked up about some made up animated characters ..Kinda reminds me of religion.
On another note and at the risk of sounding like an hypocrite,I'd too like to see a more visible development between them...just because of the drama * fun fun fun* that their relationship would imply.

Where is Wendy when Stan needs him the most?
She's there with a team of specialists when his locker is a little messy, but she's AWOL while his world has literally turned to sh*t?
Wendy, listen good sister:

I don't mind the the Stan and Wendy relationship at all in SP. It's kinda cute. It's used rarely when they need a couple as a plot device in an episode. But most of the time it's ignored or refered to once in awhile when the need arises. It works pretty much the way most relationships work in 4th grade. Personally I think Stan and Wendy will stay together just because its easier to use they instead of creating a new couple for a "boy/girl relationship" episode.

i wonder if wendy and stan will speak in this new one coming up.
